It looks like Lewis Hamilton on a race run?

He completed 10 laps on softs, switched to the mediums after a live pit stop and has just completed his 17th lap in this stint.

Otherwise, it has been a pretty quiet afternoon so far. Daniil Kvyat's lap counter had been stuck on 22 since this morning, but he is back out in the Red Bull now.

If you missed the news about qualifying changes, then let me bring you up to speed.

A new system has been agreed that will see the slowest car being eliminated every 90 seconds in three knock-out sections of qualifying.

However, Ecclestone says the introduction of the format will be delayed until the fifth race of the season.

"My guys who do the timing said: 'Mr E, we don't want to be put in the position because we don't think we can get it done properly in time'," he said.

It isn't the silverware he'll have wanted, but Nico Rosberg has finally been given his trophy for take the most pole positions in 2015 by Bernie Ecclestone.

Judging from comments on Twitter, I'm guessing many of you are hoping he takes as long to implement the proposed changes to qualifying...

A 1:23.785 for Valtteri Bottas moves the Williams driver up to second. That time - the team's best in testing so far - was set on the soft tyre, and is seventh tenths of a second off Nico Rosberg's leading time.

Lewis Hamilton has made the switch to mediums and improves with a 1:29.042. That's 4.2s off Kimi Raikkonen's time - the best of those set on the white-walled tyre.

This is one fine looking cake, not that Nico Hulkenberg will get much of a chance to sample it. F1 drivers can ill afford to put on weight, although I'd imagine they work a fair bit off during testing, Hulkenerg has completed 69 laps so far, three laps more than the Spanish Grand Prix.

There's a welcome sight on the circuit - Fernando Alonso is back out in the McLaren, which had stopped at the pitlane exit just before lunch.

Lewis Hamilton also heads out with soft tyres on his Mercedes. Getting ready for having a crack at beating Nico Rosberg's time perhaps?

Just before the red flag, Lewis Hamilton had pitted after completing three laps. No time yet, though, with almost an hour of the afternoon session gone.
