As you asked so nicely Alex, you can indeed make such a request. The fastest times have all been set on the medium tyre so far.

Meanwhile, Nico Rosberg is bringing up his half century of laps. That seems pretty low in Mercedes terms.

He has 90 minutes to bump up the lap count before he hands over to Lewis Hamilton.

What could the drivers do after F1?

Liking your vision, Ash, not so much your photoshopping skills though...

  4. Taking it to the Maxpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

Finally Max Verstappen gives me reason to delve into my catalogue of tired Max Verstappen puns as he ramps up the Toro Rosso's pace and rattles off the fastest time of the day so far - 1:25.356.

Nico Rosberg has also improved and is second fastest with 1:25.449.

Daniel Ricciardo is clearly loving being back in the swing of things in F1, although he isn't actually in the Red Bull today. Instead it is Daniil Kvyat, who has completed 17 laps and currently has the sixth fastest time with 1:26.227.

Nico Hulkenberg has the seventh fastest time but he has the chance to improve on that at the moment. He has the track to himself.

He hasn't been out for a while though.

Back to matters on the track and we're up to nine drivers with at least one timed lap under their belts now as Max Verstappen goes third fastest with 1:25.802.

    At the moment it is:

    1. Valtteri Bottas 1:25.682

    2. Kimi Raikkonen 1:25.689

    3. Max Verstappen 1:25.802.

If only there was a chance of such a small gap between times when the season gets under way for real...

Actually, that sounds like a good topic for a get involved.

Can you think of any other unusual careers drivers went into after leaving F1?

What career-path away from the track can you see the current crop of drivers going on to pursue? The more amusing the better and feel free to get creative and provide a picture too.

To kick things off, how about Pastor Maldonado as a driving instructor?

Will Stevens' departure from F1 got me thinking about what drivers have gone on to do when they have left the sport, and one of the most unusual post-F1 careers has to be Paolo Barilla's.

After a short stint at Minardi in 1989-90 he left motorsport to make his fortune selling pasta.

Speaking of Rio Haryanto, his arrival in Formula 1 ended Will Stevens' chance of retaining his seat at Manor.

Probably the only man who could get away with wearing a baseball cap back to front in this day and age, Stevens has fortunately got his future away from F1 sorted. He will race in the World Endurance Championship.

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: "Refuelling is back in Formula 1! Well, for the transporters anyway. The McLaren Honda unit has just taken on 110 litres of diesel fuel to run its generators."

...and into second place goes Kimi with 1:25.689. He's on the medium tyre, as everyone else appears to be for that matter.

There's work going on on the Manor at the moment, so the wait goes on for Rio Haryanto who, along with Max Verstappen, has yet to complete a timed lap.

Speaking of Nico Rosberg, he has just jumped into P2 with 1:26.118.

I've just realised I've barely mentioned Ferrari. Well, Kimi Raikkonen is out on the track, and on what looks to be on his first flying lap...

  19. Renault putting in the mileagepublished at 09:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

Only Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton put in more laps than Kevin Magnussen in the first test. The Renault driver completed 264 laps in total, with Rosberg putting in 332 and Hamilton 343.

Rosberg, unsurprisingly, has done the most mileage this morning with 20 laps.

After a spell in the McLaren garage, Fernando Alonso is back out and improves with 1:29.380.

Valtteri Bottas also emerges in the Williams and proceeds to go fastest of all, clocking 1:25.682.

Still waiting for times from Max Verstappen, Felipe Nasr, Kimi Raikkonen and Rio Haryanto.
