Things still not going exactly how Lewis Hamilton would like as he goes onto the tarmac run-off area at Turn One before returning to the track.

Daniel Ricciardo splits the Mercedes as he posts 1:38.691 on a set of softs. Nineteen drivers have now completed at least one timed lap with 15 minutes of the session gone. 

Nico Rosberg, with softs on, goes quickest with 1:37.761. Lewis Hamilton is coming round for his first timed lap and he goes second, a second off Rosberg's time. The world champion is on the slower medium tyres.

Jenson Button goes fastest with a 1:38.868 but now there's an issue for Esteban Gutierrez - his rear brakes are on fire! 

He gets the Haas back to the pits and it is quickly pounced on by some chaps with fire extinguishers. 

All happening in practice today.

"My headrest is loose," says Rio Haryanto over team radio. "Box, box," is the reply.

Then there is the same issue for Rio's Manor team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, with cameras showing it wobbling around as weaves around the circuit.

Everything is happening in twos today.

Five minutes in and times are dripping in. Romain Grosjean leads the way with 1:40.908, with Marcus Ericsson, Pascal Wehrlein, Esteban Gutierrez and Felipe Nasr also clocking timed laps.

The sun is still shining brightly as second practice gets under way.

Max Verstappen is getting strapped into his seat, although his Toro Rosso colleague is having a little bit of bother fastening the belts. No major drama, the clips finally click and he's ready to go.
