A few more timed laps on the board now, including a first for Max Verstappen in the Red Bull. He slots into P7 with a 1:27.562.

Meanwhile, Daniil Kvyat isn't quite settled in the Toro Rosso. He is currently out of the car while his seat is adjusted.

Some of the teams have brought along a few upgrades with them to Barcelona. Ferrari have a new rear wing while Force India have brought a new front wing floor and bodywork. Mercedes also appear to have a new, pointier nose as shots of their garage shows it being fitted to Lewis Hamilton's car.

Nothing between the two Mercedes drivers as they chip away at their lap times, trading places at the top. At the moment, Nico Rosberg has the slightest of edges - his 1:27.374 is just 0.002s ahead of Lewis Hamilton.

“The shenanigans at Red Bull rather took the spotlight off Lewis Hamilton in the pre-event news conference, but the world champion did eventually get asked about his predicament in the championship.

"Jenson Button admitted that his former team-mate’s deficit was ‘a lot of points’. But Hamilton, resplendent in a new baseball cap which Mercedes said was Beaujolais, said: ‘It is what it is. There is no point being concerned. For sure I have a mountain to climb but I love a challenge and I am really excited about it.’

"Rosberg said: ‘Lewis is still the same Lewis as the last few years, he is just as quick and just as difficult to beat and that’s it. there is still a long, long way to go.’”

Nico Rosberg is out now, so that's everyone accounted for, and he puts down one of the first times on the board with a 1:25.456. The only driver on that timesheet is his Mercedes team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, who clocked 1:25.9

This is who all the cameras were trained on this morning. So far so good for the 18-year-old. If he gets on the podium this weekend, he'll be the youngest ever driver to do so.

Not quite as many eyes on Daniil Kvyat as he makes his return to the Toro Rosso. He almost turned into the Red Bull garage after his installation lap before remembering which team he is driving for now.

"I have come to Max Verstappen's garage because, as you can imagine, the rest of the world is down here.

"Christian Horner is on Verstappen's side of the garage at the moment, looking after his new boy. When Max was walking across to the garage, he was so cool and calm. He looked like he didn't have a care in the world. He has worked hard to get here and this is his reward."

“It’s ok to lose to your opponent. It’s never okay to lose to fear”

Lewis Hamilton went all Karate Kid in his preparations for this weekend's race, but it is getting close to the point where not even an 80's movie training montage will be enough to rescue his season.

Four races down, four wins for Nico Rosberg. Will Hamilton finally chop down his team-mate this weekend?
