    Off we go!

The first part of qualifying is under way and the cars head out, full wets on, and there's huge spray kicking up from behind the cars as they make their way around the circuit.

"Chance of rain after five minutes" Sergio Perez is told. The drivers will be keen to get a lap in early doors.

The cars are lining up ready and waiting at the end of the pitlane to make their way on the circuit. Looks like we are all good to get going at 13:20 BST as planned.

A cricket club near me had the right idea when it comes to dealing with drying up a wet surface quickly.

Call in a chopper and get it to hover over the surface. Job done!

They actually did this, by the way. Check out the story here., external

Lewis Hamilton is a reflex driver, he doesn't mind if the rear of his car is dancing around a bit but Nico Rosberg is much more reliant on a well-balanced car. We saw the gap in Monaco and you are likely to see the same gap this afternoon. At least initially.

I haven't seen any pictures of the Mercedes garage yet, but I'd imagine Lewis Hamilton is sporting a big beaming smile. He's looked out of sorts so far in Hungary, but this rain will level the playing field and, as we all know, he thrives in these conditions.

In general the rain has cleared and now it is a case of waiting for the track to dry. I'm watching pictures of the safety car and I am not joking, I've been on a powerboat and it looks like that.

  10. Qualifying delayed until 13:20 BSTpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 23 July 2016

A further delay as the safety car splashes around the track.

Go make a brew. Could be a while longer yet.

Indeed it was epic. What a race and what a crying shame for the Arrows team...

Confirmation that the start of the session has been delayed by 10 minutes because of the rain, which is still very, very heavy.

Don't be surprised if the delay ends up being extended.

Kimi Raikkonen has had more podium places than any other current driver in Hungary, but he'll do well to add to that record tomorrow. Ferrari have not looked on it at all so far this weekend.

The sweepers, not the chap in the below picture, but the proper motorised ones, have been out on the track.

With 10 minutes until qualifying is due to start, the rain is still coming down but the dark clouds have shifted.

Let's be honest, that brush isn't going to do much.
