It is interesting to see many of teams doing race preparation. I can only assume it is because of the new asphalt and the track is always evolving. Teams want to get as much data as they can and this is the last chance they have to do some continuous running.

No timed laps yet from Keviun Magnussen, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen. The latter has just gone out for the first time in this session, with 20 minutes gone. He's out on supersofts.

Max is definitely the slowest man at the moment, because he has not gone anywhere. Red Bull are having seat drama. They have done some alteration work with Max's seat, he is in the car and they are hoping to send him out momentarily.

So there's a teddy bear watching TV by the side of the track.

    OK then.

We've haven't seen a quick lap from Max Verstappen, in fact we haven't seen a lap of any sort at all because he hasn't been out on the track yet. It looks like he is getting ready to climb into his Red Bull now, though.

A good lap from Rosberg, but you sense there is definitely more to come.

A good, clean lap from Nico Rosberg and he goes quickest, rattling off a 1:20.811. He immediately improves by three tenths of a second.

So far, he looks like the man to beat here, but Lewis Hamilton is back out.

It’s hard to believe that just five weeks ago in Canada, Ferrari had the pace to properly threaten Mercedes - and arguably could have won. Since then, Ferrari have been nowhere in Baku, Austria and Silverstone - a trend that looks like continuing here, with Sebastian Vettel 0.913 second slower than Nico Rosberg in practice yesterday.

The German had a messy session, with some niggly problems, and was also not that happy with the car. “We lost a bit of time with the red flag and had to come in a couple of times to reprogramme the car,” Vettel said. “Lost a bit of rhythm. The car felt fine. We should improve the balance for Saturday. There is not one sector that stands out. If the balance comes more together we will improve everywhere.” There did not sound much hope of challenging Mercedes, though. “It’s not a surprise they are quick,” Vettel said.

Sebastian Vettel has yet to start his qualifying simulation run, but Kimi Raikkonen has just done a quick lap that has seen him slip into P3. The Finn did a 1:21:487.

We will not see the light fuel qualifying runs until the end of this session so there is probably more time to come from Ricciardo, but also more time to come from Hamilton, as we know.

And it is a 1:21.028 for Daniel Ricciardo, sending him to the top of the timesheet. He's four tenths of a second quicker than Lewis Hamilton.

Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo is on a quick lap, fastest of all through the first two sectors...

A 1:21.441 for Lewis Hamilton. That's a second slower than Nico Rosberg's pacesetting time from yesterday. A big lock up at Turn 12 contributed to that time for Hamilton.

Rio Haryanto is the early pacesetter with a 1:24.272 set on the supersofts, but Lewis Hamilton is making up for lost time, having missed out on the chance for some qualifying sims because of his crash yesterday. Expect him to nip into P1 pretty sharpish.

Sure enough, here comes the world champion. Unlike Nico Rosberg, he has supersofts bolted on. The McLarens of Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso have also opted for the red-rimmed tyres.

Nico Rosberg has just pulled out of the Mercedes garage and ventured out onto the track. He, like many of the others, has gone out on medium tyres.

No sign of Lewis Hamilton just yet, but Mercedes assure us both drivers were strapped in and ready to go, so should be out imminently.
