Mercedes panicking? Certainly sounded like it from those radio messages and Kimi Raikkonen is working on applying the pressure. His latest lap is six tenths of a second quicker than Lewis Hamilton's but has a gap of 2.9 seconds to make up.

"We really need to get on top of these front brakes," comes the message over the radio. The Briton is 2.6 seconds behind Daniel Ricciardo.
Marcus Ericsson pits in the Sauber, sheds the ultrasofts to take on a set of supersofts and is back out in 20th.

The stewards don't like the look of some damage on Carlos Sainz's car that was caused by that early collision with Nico Hulkenberg. He is shown the black and orange flag, meaning he has to pit to get it sorted.

BBC Radio 5 live Formula 1 analystThe safety car period seemed to end very suddenly considering the amount of debris on the track. They cleary didn't communicate that to all the Singapore marshals because that marshal was still working on the track.

That safety car caught many of us by surprise with how quickly it went in. There didn't appear to be any on screen notice and it also caught a marshal unaware as the camera cut to a chap legging it off the track just as Nico Rosberg came round. He got off just in time, but that was close!

Nico Rosberg is away again smoothly and leads Daniel Ricciardo by 1.6 seconds. Lewis Hamilton is third and with Kimi Raikkonen fourth while Fernando Alonso is up to fifth.
