As weekends go, it doesn't get any better than that for Lewis Hamilton. He will head to Azerbaijan in two weeks full of confidence of wresting the title battle advantage back from Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso was so close to a point before another engine failure scuppered his chances.

Poor Alonso is starting to sound like a stuck record: "For us drivers we try to drive as fast as we can. We will start last probably in Baku. A tough time."

Kimi Raikkonen, who finished seventh: "It's disappointing. We had quite good speed after our pit and started getting up to the cars in front.

"It was not a very good start from us and then it was hard to get past and then we had the brake issues.

"I wasn't surprised about the Force India's pace."

So dominant was Lewis Hamilton's win that he even had time to reminisce as he cruised round in front.

"You always need weekends like this," he told Sky Sports. "There was a lot of time to think when I was up front, reliving memories from 2007 when I was here, actually of lot of my races here.

"It was still a challenge but it was like my other races here where it was well managed from the front. It is a lot like a go-kart track, so it takes me back to my roots."

Sebastian Vettel, who finished fourth, speaking to Sky Sports: "I wanted to get a trophy. I didn't get one. The beginning of the race did not go our way, when I got back to that group towards the end I was fairly confident I could get a podium but one lap short."

Lance Stroll is the 12th Canadian to race in Formula 1 but he is now the first without the surname Villeneuve to score points.

Williams' Lance Stroll having scored his first points ever - and at his home grand prix: "Today is special in so many ways.

"It's been a tricky start to the season but we have known we were capable of doing it. It's about having a clean weekend, a solid race and I had good communication and good balance.

"It's special to be able to overtake and fight. Sometimes it's boring and you just finish where you started but it wasn't like that today.

"I have never doubted our ability to score points. We are far from perfect but I know our pace can be strong when we get everything right.

"There has always just gotten in the way of scoring points. We had to fight our way through. but it was a consistent race today.

"The first points are done. It's not going to get easier - we will still have challenges but I am just happy today".

Esteban Ocon did drive an excellent race but he will be in no mood to reflect on that after getting in tussle with team-mate Sergio Perez.

It's going to be an interesting Force India debrief, that's for sure.

As is now customary, Daniel Ricciardo takes off his shoe to drink champagne from it.

Now I'd expect Sir Patrick Stewart to be disgusted by that. Nope.

"I want some of that," he says, before taking a big gulp out of Ricciardo's sweaty, sweaty boot.

"I will drink out of anyone's shoe!"

Valtteri Bottas, who finished second: "Always good to be here. As a team we really needed this one-two to get the points. I am very, very proud to be a part of this team. I knew what I had to do in the end, this was good points for us."
