Disappointment for Carlos Sainz as he is told to box and retire from 13th. Race over.

"What a glorious race," Sainz says sarcastically.

Phil Slocombe: I´ll be surprised if Ferrari do not swop Kimi and Seb over to give Seb 2nd.

L J Isteed: Kimi's race being sacrificed for Seb?

Well he doesn't manage to keep him behind for that long as Valtteri Bottas picks off his fellow Finn around the outside of Turn 4 and Bottas is back into the lead.

    Raikkonen subsequently pits.

  6. Postpublished at Lap 43/71

So, will Kimi Raikkonen play the perfect number two driver and keep Valtteri Bottas behind as long as possible?

Kimi Raikkonen, who is yet to stop, leads the race by nine tenths of a second ahead of Valtteri Bottas.

That pit stop was not terrible but it may have lost him a bit of time.

He's come out behind Kimi Raikkonen. The Ferrari driver could bring Bottas back into the clutches of Sebastian Vettel.

Valtteri Bottas pitsImage source, Rex Features

Valtteri Bottas pits. He needs a quick one, it's not - 3.4 seconds. The right front didn't go on smoothly.

He's onto super-softs and back out behind Kimi Raikkonen and a lapped Jolyon Palmer.

The other problem Mercedes have now is they can't pit Bottas until he builds up a big enough lead over Raikonnen.

Whichever way we look at it he's still got control of the race but he needs a couple more seconds lead as a margin for error.

  11. Postpublished at Lap 40/71

Valtteri Bottas is 20 seconds clear of Kimi Raikkonen now. The Mercedes crew are getting ready for a stop. In now?

Stoffel Vandoorne is under investigation for ignoring blue flags.

Confusion for Lewis Hamilton as he asks if it is him that is being investigated. He's not.

Lewis Hamilton is already struggling on these tyres.

He tells his Mercedes team that there's a problem with the rear and there is "far too much front wing."

Of the top 10, Valtteri Bottas (first), Kimi Raikkonen (second), Esteban Ocon (sixth), Felipe Massa (seventh) and Carlos Sainz (10th) haven't stopped yet.

I think the performance that Valtteri Bottas has had so far he won't have to react to many people.

Bottas could pit now and still come out 10 seconds in the lead over the real second-placed driver Sebastian Vettel.

Will Lewis Hamilton get to the end of this race on those ultra-softs? There's a lot of laps ahead of him, 35 to be precise. If he pushes now he risks wearing them down sooner.

He certainly doesn't appear to be pushing. His last lap was two tenths slower than Daniel Ricciardo, who is 3.5 seconds ahead of Hamilton.

Sebastian Vettel is in the pits.

It looked a little bit sticky but I think he's gone on to a set of the super softs.

  18. Postpublished at Lap 35/71

Stops galore as Sebastian Vettel goes in for his first stop from second. Super-softs go on the Ferrari and he's back on the circuit in third.

Surely Valtteri Bottas will be in soon?

Again Vettel's mouth jump started his brain. Team needs to tell him to think before he speaks.

Daniel Ricciardo puts from third. Super-softs and popped onto the Red Bull and he returns to the track in fourth, behind Kimi Raikkonen and ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
