    A great effort by McLaren's Stoffel Vandoorne there. He put it all together and got a tidy lap at the end there. P10 - half a second clear of two-time champion team-mate Fernando Alonso.

    BUT his joy is shortlived as Sergio Perez comes through in the Force India and takes 10th place.

    Daniil Kvyat got swallowed up at the end there too and he goes out, along with Alonso, Sainz and Massa.

    Sainz has gone out and banged a lap in for Toro Rosso.

    His first effort is only good for 11th though. He needs four tenths more to overhaul Grosjean, who is now in 10th.

    Romain Grosjean improves to ninth in the Haas which drops Alonso into the danger zone.

    Alonso will start 42nd as it stands.

    The Williams cars have been struggling this weekend at a circuit where they have enjoyed so much success in the past.

    Stroll is already out and it looks like Massa is about to join him. The veteran Brazilian is P14 right now and more than three tenths off the top 10.

    Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo, eliminated in Q1, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "It's up to Max now to show the potential of the car.

    "We knew we would have a penalty but looks like we will be at the back of the grid.

    "We certainly have struggled to get two cars to the finish. Max has had the worst end lately and me today. We feel like we have improved but still issues to overcome."
