Michael Schumacher is certainly well thought of in these parts, and so is Max Verstappen.

The stands are a sea of orange already, and have been for hours, with more than 80,000 fans of the Dutchman having made the trip over from the Netherlands to see their hero.

Lewis Hamilton on pole, title rival Sebastian Vettel in second, the two set for a fast and flat-out battle on one of the world’s great race tracks. The second part of the Formula 1 season could not really have started in a better way. With 14 points between them, the title is finely poised, but this race is much more of a ‘must-win’ for Hamilton than Vettel. If the Ferrari can beat the Mercedes here, on a supposedly ‘Mercedes track’, the German will have at least a 21-point advantage, and that’s beginning to look hard to claw back. Saturday may have been all about equalling the all-time record of poles, but it’s now that the pressure is really on for Hamilton.

“I feel confident I can do it,” he said. “It is a really long run down to Turn Five, which is always a bit of a question, so it is going to be interesting how the start goes. I am in the best position to win the race and I have to try and convert it. It really depends how you get away, how you position yourself and how your exit from Turn One is today. It is going to be a tough battle, Ferrari are looking very strong and they are not very easy to beat.”

Mick Schumacher, 18, will drive a 1994-spec Benetton to commemorate his dad's first win at Spa back in 1992.

Mick, like his father, is a racer and is currently 11th in the Formula 3 European Championship, having moved up from Formula 4 this season.

"There was not the slightest bit of doubt for me that I wanted to do this," said Mick.
