I was worried before this weekend that we'd not have much to talk about with the title all wrapped up, but just look at what we have in store tomorrow:

    • Lewis Hamilton to fight from the back of the grid.
    • Valtteri Bottas on pole position. Two Ferraris second and third on the grid respectively.
    • Fernando Alonso up in sixth
    • Felipe Massa's final home race.

The Brazilian Grand Prix promises to be a cracker! The race gets under way at 16:00 GMT, join us from 14:30 for build up.

    See you then.

Lewis Hamilton crashed out of Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying on his first lap and will start Sunday's race the back of the grid.

His Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas won a battle for pole with Hamilton's former title rival Sebastian Vettel.

The new world champion lost control of his Mercedes at the fast and difficult Ferradura/Laranjha double right-hander. It was the first significant mistake Hamilton has made all season.

Nice touch from Lewis Hamilton, who was one of the first to congratulate Valtteri Bottas.

Mercedes have now been on pole 14 times in 19 races: Hamilton 11 times and Bottas three times.

The qualifying result without grid penalties applied. Fernando Alonso, who has looked strong all weekend, will move up to sixth after Daniel Ricciardo's grid penalty.

Just three cars to pass to get on the podium...

So where does everyone think Lewis Hamilton will finish tomorrow? He's got good form for fighting through from the back of the grid and into the points.

Three times he has gone from the back row and onto the podium, finishing third at the 2014 German, 2014 Hungarian and 2016 Belgian GPs.

  6. 'Mistakes can happen'published at 17:33 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda, speaking on Sky Sports: "Mistakes can happen. Lewis is very upset. I have no problem with it. For Bottas what a fantastic result. We're positively surprised to beat Vettel. Bottas came back in massive top form."

  8. 'Could have been better'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

Kimi Raikkonen, third in qualifying: "Could have been better.

"It was a bit tricky with the tyres. My last run was better but still not good enough.

Hopefully the weather will stay dry. We'll do our best in a very tough race."

  9. 'I chickened out a bit'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2017

Sebastian Vettel, who finished second in qualifying: "I'd love to be ahead. I chickened out a little bit with the brakes.

"The lap was fine I knew I had a bit left. I was already too slow by that point. I think it was OK but not great. For tomorrow let's see what happens."

Valtteri Bottas, who took pole position: "It feels good. It was so close with Seb all through qualifying.

"It's a shame Lewis went out but I'm happy I could do a good job for the team.

"Avoiding mistakes will be crucial tomorrow as well as a good start. I'm really looking forward to it."

And someone else who is happy is Fernando Alonso.

He's told he has qualified seventh, but will move up to sixth on the grid after Daniel Ricciardo takes his grid penalty.

    "YES!" he says.

That is just what he needed. He has struggled in the second half of this season but he can now go forth and attempt to win that grand prix tomorrow.

Fair to say Valtteri Bottas is over the moon with that pole position - the third of his career.

"YEEESSSSSSS!" he screams over the radio before pulling into parc ferme.

Earlier on in this session the drivers were complaining about rain at turn one. You're only really going to have trouble braking at turn one therefore. The racing line should still make for some quicker lap times.
