Fernando Alonso is down in 12th. Can he recover to earn a finish in the points for the fourth race out of four this season?

This is what it is coming down to between Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen.

They are both young guys, both tipped for great things in the future and this is a real battle between them. This is egos, this is status within the team. If they are not careful it is going to get ugly.

• Sebastian Vettel holds the lead from Valtteri Bottas. A lock up forces Lewis Hamilton to pit earlier than expected, potentially costing him the race.
• Safety car comes out on first lap after clashes through the field.
• Fernando Alonso suffers puncture after being hit by Sergey Sirotkin. Alonso limps back without one of his tyres but manages to get back on circuit. He's currently 12th.
• Red Bull struggling with battery issues.
• Sirotkin, Esteban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg out of race.

Once again, the action is coming from the Red Bull pair.

Ricciardo gets the jump on Verstappen, who then responds to reclaim fourth. Once again, they are close to driving each other off the track. A few nervous moments for Christian Horner and the rest of the Red Bull team. Both drivers unscathed at the moment.

Charles Leclerc has just moved past Fernando Alonso. That is Leclerc back into the points as he aims for his first points finish in his career.

"I can't pass," says Max Verstappen about Lewis Hamilton up ahead of him.

The Red Bull race engineer replies: "Yep. Copy. Keep it clean."

Sebastian Vettel is now into the second half of this race, comfortably leading and looking to extend his lead at the top of the drivers' championship.

Remember, of the last 13 drivers that have won three of the opening four races of a season, they have all gone on to win the world title that year.

The front three are set in this race unless there is another safety car.

The only question now is Bottas behind Vettel. I feel like Hamilton has played his ace card with the pit window and I feel like Mercedes will be relaying on Bottas now.

Sergio Perez is currently eighth. But now he has a five-second penalty for overtaking before the safety car restart line.

At the moment he is less than five seconds clear of Romain Grosjean in ninth. That is the Grosjean who started today right at the back. Great driving from the Haas man.

Chris H: True F1 fans might appreciate Vettel even slightly, if he was prepared to race against his own teammate. History won't judge him as a champion because of how he's demanded No.1 status.

Fish Hailu: This race turned to peaceful procession. Kind of boring. We would enjoy a bit of turns and twists. It looks like Vettel is obvious winner here. C'mon Lewis, give us some excitement.

Mercedes need a safety car. They have twice this season been hurt by that, this time that could be their only hope.

In comes Lewis Hamilton. He drops behind his team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who has not pitted in second. Neither Red Bull nor race leader Sebastian Vettel has come in either.
