Bobby: Don’t discount it straight away... last three years the winner hasn’t started on pole! And I’m not Monaco number 1 fan.

Craig: Nope not a fan of Monaco. Every year I see practice updates and think it’s a Friday.

Ginger: Monaco is out dated and dangerous If a modern course of the same design as it would never be allowed, why does F1 insist on using this one?

Craig, I hear you. Remember, everyone gets Friday off in Monaco. FP3 and qualifying take place as usual on Saturday.

"It's traffic all the time," moans Kimi Raikkonen, although he is prepared to give it one more lap out there. Fifth quickest for him, half a second off the pace.

Work to do for Valtteri Bottas. He was seventh earlier on, the only one of the big six to not be in the top six and he is now only ninth here. Another half hour for the Finn to sort things out.

Session one was frustrating for McLaren and Fernando Alonso with a problem with his brake-by-wire system.

Session two is not going much better for the team with the two McLaren drivers being the two slowest out there.

David Barker: I can see why people think the race is dull because of the lack of overtaking. But for me it's the skill of the drivers to go at those speeds for two hours and keep it on the black stuff, it's just awesome.

Thomas Francis‏: Iconic and nostalgic but there are much better tests of a driver and a car than Monaco.

Euan‏: While Monaco has been an entertaining race in the past, it just doesn't suit modern F1 and provides no overtaking whatsoever other than through strategy. And even that doesn't look like it is happening this season.

  6. Nervous moment for Verstappen and Grosjeanpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 24 May 2018

Verstappen is the fastest, but nearly, so nearly ploughs, into Romain Grosjean, although both men were going slowly.

"He drove into my front wing," claims the Dutchman.

Daniel Ricciardo is now ahead of the Ferrari two so, just as we had this morning, we have a Red Bull one-two.

The only difference is Verstappen is now the quickest, whereas Ricciardo was fastest in session one.

This 15 minutes without any action will be lost time. The clock is still ticking and the session is only 90 minutes long so will come to an end at 15:30 BST no matter what.

    Frustrating for everyone concerned.

Apparently a dodgy drain / drainhole cover is the reason everyone is heading back to the garages.

Peter O`Sullivan: I love Monaco...1982/83 there with Toleman Hart, watching Derek Warwick against some greats..... brilliant memories.

KW‏: I'm gonna get shot down in flames here but Monaco is my least favourite race of the year. All the hype and the result is pretty much decided in Saturday's qualifying.

Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull was quickest in session one, and now his team-mate Max Verstappen is the man to beat thanks to a lap of 1:12.267. that is nine tenths quicker than anyone else has managed in session two.
