Valtteri Bottas, on the wrong end of Sebastian Vettel's car at the start, has worked his way back up to 12th. Vettel goes past Romain Grosjean, and is eighth.

BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporterI've spoken to Mercedes about the damage to Valtteri Bottas' car and he sustained quite a lot of floor damage so that will be costing him time and maybe more than the five seconds that Sebastian Vettel has been penalised.

Eventful, very eventful.
- Sebastian Vettel hits Valtteri Bottas on the first corner. Both sustain damage but are able to carry on although they are at the back. Vettel is now up to 10th and Bottas 12th, although Vettel has a five-second time penalty
- Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon are out on the first lap after Gasly spun and hit Ocon.
- Polesitter Lewis Hamilton leads
- Max Verstappen is now second after starting fourth, with Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in third.

The thing to point out about Vettel's time penalty is that he may not serve it in the pits. He is on soft tyres and so could go to the end - having it added to his final time instead.
