  2. 'A true friend... he will be deeply missed'published at 09:48 British Summer Time 27 July 2018

Since the last race, the world of Formula 1 has been rocked by the sad news of the death of former Ferrari chairman and chief executive Sergio Marchionne, who died aged 66 following complications from surgery on his right shoulder.

Marchionne took charge at Ferrari in 2014 and oversaw a major restructuring of the racing team.

Chase Carey, the chief executive of F1, described Marchionne as "a great leader", both for the sport and in the business world generally.

"He led with great passion, energy and insight, and inspired all around him. His contributions to Formula One are immeasurable.

"He was also a true friend to all of us and he will be deeply missed."

  5. Vettel's perfect opportunity to make amendspublished at 09:44 British Summer Time 27 July 2018

    Andrew Benson
BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer at the Hungaroring

This weekend could not have come at a better time for Sebastian Vettel. The Ferrari needs to make amends for his unfortunate mistake in crashing out of the lead in Germany last Sunday, and the Hungaroring provides him the perfect opportunity.

It is a track where Ferrari dominated last year, and where Red Bull might also be able to get between the red cars and Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes. A 17-point gap after Hockenheim looked bad for Vettel, but if things go as expected, he could have recovered most if not all of it by Sunday evening.

So what a weekend it was in Germany. Lewis Hamilton started Sunday eight points behind in the championship and 13 places on the grid behind Sebastian Vettel. The Briton ended the day 17 points ahead of the German in the title chase after a memorable German Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has said the pressure of this year's title fight with Vettel is greater than he has experienced before, but is loving the challenge.

Hamilton said: "The pressures are huge. The demands and the desires of myself and Sebastian are higher than ever. The pressure is higher than ever. I am not fazed by it. I am excited by it."

  9. More excitement comingpublished at 09:31 British Summer Time 27 July 2018

It was one of the drives of the season. It was one of the drives of any season.

Last Saturday Lewis Hamilton was distraught, hunched over his car as a hydraulic issue ruined his qualifying for the German Grand Prix and left him down in 14th on the grid.

But a day later Hamilton was celebrating one of the most amazing race wins of his career as he carved his way through the field, Mercedes got their tactics spot on and Sebastian Vettel pranged his Ferrari into the barrier when leading the race.

If the Hungarian Grand Prix is half as good and half as dramatic as last week in Germany then we are all in for another special weekend.
