  3. 'We have held our hands up and said we have got it badly wrong'published at 13:27 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

The Williams team have dropped from fifth to tenth, which highlights that there are all-round problems with the performance of the car. However, the team have been criticised for signing Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin, but Claire Williams says she has no regrets. Speaking to BBC Sport she says:

"Put Lewis in our car, and I'm not sure he could have made a huge amount of difference. I feel sorry for Lance and Sergey. The car just doesn't have the performance."

The countdown is on until qualifying with 35 minutes to go. You can read more on the Williams team here.

  4. 'It's great to see'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Sauber driver Charles Leclerc has been speaking to Sky Sports about the team's progress: "We were fighting for Q2, and now we are fighting to get into Q3 like we have in the last two races - so we need to keep our feet on the ground and it's great to see this kind of progress. The approach with the car balance since Azerbaijan has been helpful."

It's worked to keep pro cycling teams afloat temporarily... Cannondale-Drapac resorted to it to try and raise the £5.4m shortfall after losing a sponsor. They managed to raise £194,000 in 24hrs. However, to keep a F1 team afloat would be significantly more expensive...

Your reaction to Force India going into administration

Euan‏: Force India going pop just shows what a disgrace F1 is at the moment. The sport is it's own worst enemy. It should take a leaf out of MotoGP's book and start giving help to the teams lower down the order or something similar. Something has to be done.

Rahul Kulkarni‏: If there's not going to be a Force India, then please at least bring the Indian GP back. The drivers and the fans both liked the Buddh circuit - it made for good racing.

Your thoughts on Force India going into administration

OriginalJonBlaze: This is so sad for the sport. Pound for pound Force India were probably the best team on the grid in the hybrid era in terms of money spent per points gained.

Hail the majestic Life L190- F1s Greatest Car: The last thing F1 needs is nine teams or less on the grid. Apparently the entry rules state if there are less than 12 cars available for a GP a GP can be cancelled. Perhaps this number should be modified to less than 20. If Stroll Sr takes his money to Force India I do worry about Williams despite Claire's denials.

Neil: Is it the cost of the complicated hybrid engines? Go back to the days they had turbo and n/a on the same grid. Let the teams decide on what engine they run.

  13. Vettel sets pace in final practicepublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel narrowly beat Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas in final practice at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Vettel was 0.059 seconds quicker than the Finn, but appeared to have more time in his car as he failed to improve on an earlier lap in the final sector of his fastest.

Lewis Hamilton was only fourth fastest, behind the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen. The world champion was 0.579secs off the pace and Mercedes in general appeared to be struggling.

Both drivers had spins at the chicane, Bottas making contact with the wall without apparently damaging his car, and each ran wide at a different fast corner in the demanding middle section of the lap at the Hungaroring.

The silver cars appeared to be lacking rear grip. At one point, Hamilton asked over the radio to be told the time set by his title rival Vettel and responded: ”I just don't have that grip.”

Red Bull had hoped this would be their best chance of a strong qualifying performance since setting pole position in Monaco but Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo were nearly a second off the pace in fifth and sixth places.

The Renaults of Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg were best of the rest, a further three-quarters of a second back, ahead of the Haas of Romain Grosjean and Pierre Gasly’s Toro Rosso.

McLaren’s Fernando Alonso was down in 14th place. The fastest driver of the Force India team, who went into administration on Friday evening following financial problems, was Esteban Ocon in 15th.

  14. 'More to come'published at 12:09 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Renault's team boss Cyril Abiteboul to Sky Sports: "Lets see what happens in qualifying, we have a bit more to come from the engine, but Haas have made a step up on the engine."

    Jennie Gow
BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter

It's all heading in the direction of Vettel and Ferrari, or Bottas in the Mercedes. I'm surprised that Red Bull haven't got more to give, Ricciardo is running a lower spec engine without the 'party mode', but we expected Red Bull to be further up in the mix.

  17. Vettel fastest in FP3published at 12:02 British Summer Time 28 July 2018
    Breaking

Less than a week ago, Sebastian Vettel was in tears, banging his fists against his steering wheel with his car buried in a Hockenheim barrier.

Today, just as he was in FP2, he is the quickest man out there.

He broke his own track record in the process with a lap of 1:16.170, to edge out Valtteri Bottas' best time of 1:16.229.

Raikkonen third, Hamilton fourth, Ricciardo fifth, Verstappen sixth, Sainz seventh, Hulkenberg eighth, Grosjean ninth, Gasly 10th.

Hamilton, in fourth, is going to have to pull some rabbits out of the hat later on if he is to get pole position.

  20. "Six of one and half a dozen of the other"published at 11:59 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Christian Horner to Sky Sports: "It's six of one and half a dozen of the other...

"Both drivers aren't particularly happy today, Vettel and Bottas' times are probably out of reach but Hamilton's maybe not... Daniel Ricciardo is out for another lap."
