Your reaction to Force India going into administration

Lesley Sutton‏: What about all the engineers and technicians employed by force India. What does the future hold for them?

kalaimani: The only reason I started to watch F1 and still continuing to watch is Force India. Feeling sad to see this wonderful team going into administration. This team has always punched well above their weight and has been an inspiration to many new teams.

Max Verstappen is up to fifth, but still seven tenths off leader Sebastian Vettel with Daniel Ricciardo nearly a second off the German.

That Red Bull Friday optimism has been replaced with a bit of Saturday concern.

What of the Force Indias, whose team's future is uncertain? Esteban Ocon is 15th, Sergio Perez is 19th. So still not too much to smile about for them.

Rachel T: Lately, practice and qualifying mean absolutely nothing. Race day is where, increasingly, anything can happen and usually does!

RantingMrP: Everyone getting in everyone's way as the quali simulations get underway...I grip the arm of my sofa and ghost-brake every time I see someone dawdling about at a corner exit as another driver approaches at 300kph...not good. What are the mirrors on the cars for?

Lewis Hamilton asks his team for Sebastian Vettel's best time. After being told of the German's leading 1:16.170, Hamilton, sounding a bit despondent, says: "I just don't have that grip."

Valtteri Bottas spins at turn six and hits the wall, are both Mercedes having trouble with the rear end of the car today?

Team radio: "Did you touch anything?"

    Bottas: "Yes a little bit."

And another one on the grass...

Raikkonen (in third) skirts onto the grass on the exit of turn seven, but he's two tenths away from Vettel in first. While Hamilton is still struggling with the rear end of the car.

  10. Bottas on the grasspublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Bottas spins in at the chicane, the same area where Lewis Hamilton had a moment, not too long ago.

Bottas slides across the grass sideways and backwards, and bangs into the barrier. Not the worst crash ever, and he may have got away without doing much damage to his car. Straight to the pits he can go after getting it started again. He will be hoping his car has had a lucky, lucky escape.

Only Verstappen (sixth), Grosjean (seventh) and Magnussen (18th) have set their best times on the softs. It has been the ultrasofts for everyone else.

  12. New floor for Vandoornepublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

    Jennie Gow
BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter

I have come down to McLaren, they are putting a new floor on Vandoorne's car. It was a planned change, which is strange to do that during a session. I asked if it was an upgrade or an old spec and the team said: "It has come from the factory..." which doesn't answer the question, but one could assume it is new... however never assume anything.

He spun it at the chicane... facing backwards at turn six and seven. It's the same big slide as he had yesterday, but he didn't catch it.

  14. Vettel regains top spotpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Well, that track record lasted about two minutes. Sebastian Vettel had just lost top spot, and instantly snatched it back thanks to a 1:16.170, 0.059 seconds clear of Bottas.

  15. New track record for Bottaspublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

Mixed moments for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton slides and spins, but just at the same moment his team-mate Valtteri Bottas posts the best time of the lot. A 1:16.229 sees the Finn become the owner of the lap record. Well played, sir.

Kimi Raikkonen blasts the first sector out of the park, and the second sector too, but goes wide and locked up the left front at Turn 12 to miss out on the fastest time.

Still, he is now second, only 0.112 seconds behind Sebastian Vettel, but great encouragement for Ferrari, who now hold a one-two.

Max Verstappen to his mechanic: "I don’t think it works, I have no battery, and to achieve a bit of battery I have to be really hard on the down shifters."

His instructions from the team: "OK so just make sure you keep the RPM high by being in as low as gear as possible on this lap."
