  1. 'It would be odd if I shook Ocon's hand'published at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Max Verstappen said earlier that he might be able to laugh about his collision with Esteban Ocon in 15 years. On my watch, that leaves around 14 years, 364 days and 23 hours still to go.

Yep, he's still steaming like a volcano as he speaks to Sky Sports and says this: "Once I got by Lewis I was saving my tyres to get through to the end of the race. He [Ocon] came out of the pit lane and he had the right to overtake, but the level of risk he was taking, it was not right. The stewards gave him a penalty.

"You can say, 'Max, you should have given room', but we were not racing and you don’t expect that."

But what Lewis Hamilton's comment that Ocon had the right to unlap himself, Max? "Easy to say from his side when you are second."

Verstappen is then asked about shoving at Ocon afterwards. He says: "We are all passionate about the sport, but it would be odd if I shook his hand.

"I don’t care what people say. I’m a winner. To get taken out by that and to get a stupid response from their side, I was not happy about that."

Finally, Verstappen is asked if he expects any sanctions from the FIA. "No," he says, and it is very clear that the interview is over.

    F1's fighting history

20 years ago, Michael Schumacher smashed into the back of David Coulthard during the epic 1998 Belgian GP. Schumacher steamed into the McLaren pit garage to confront the Scot afterwards, but was held back by around five of his Ferrari team members.

Coulthard didn't look particularly scared, to be honest.

  3. 'He had nothing to lose'published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

In the green room before the podium, Hamilton told Verstappen that Ocon had the right to unlap himself. Verstappen agreed, but added: "But you can't crash."

Hamilton responded: “You had more to lose than he did. He had nothing to lose."

Hamilton has a point, but it doesn't make the move right. Alonso asked for a crazy race, and since the drivers' championship had already been decided two weeks ago in Mexico, today was always going to be a race when drivers would take more risks.

  4. 'The podium was so close'published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Amid Lewis Hamilton's victory, Mercedes clinching the constructors' championship, and the shenanigans between Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon, let's not forget that Daniel Ricciardo finished fourth for Red Bull.

And here he is, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was fun. I can't help but be a bit disappointed. I don't want this to be a negative interview. But as soon as I crossed the line, I was upset because the podium was so close.

"I feel like every time we start at the back, we have a fast car. But the battles were fun. I know we were better than fourth. I've got one more chance to get up there in Abu Dhabi, so let's go for it.

"They have fake champagne there don't they? Good for hydration in the desert. We'll have some of that."

Ranting Mr P: Max showing all his immaturity and teenage temper there. He's childish on track and even more childish in person. That sort of anger is dangerous in a formula one driver - reminds one of Vettel banging into Lewis in Baku. Petulant. Silly. Doesn't belong in any sport.

Andy Crawford: Verstappen has made plenty of questionable moves taking out other drivers - Karma??

Some very good debate here. But to everyone including our hashtag beside tweets with swearing in - don't bother. We won't use them.

Brazilian three-time champ Nelson Piquet wasn't the nicest man at the best of times, frankly. Calling Nigel Mansell's wife "ugly" amongst other things.

But when Eliseo Salazar punted him out of the lead at the German GP in 1982 he unleashed a range of punches Anthony Joshua would have been pleased with.

Not cool. If a little entertaining...

  7. 'Hopefully in 15 years we can laugh about it'published at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Max Verstappen has been speaking in the post-race press conference, and the hoarse sound in his voice suggests he has done a fair bit of shouting over the past few minutes.

He says: "I think we had a great car, the strategy did really well, and we did our race until I got taken out on Turn Two, He [Ocon] got a penalty and that tells you the stewards know who was in the wrong.

"The penalty for me is that I lost the victory today. Hopefully in 15 years time we can laugh about it."

  9. 'A tricky afternoon'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

A despondent Sebastian Vettel, sixth in the Ferrari, tells Sky Sports: "All in all it was a bit of a tricky afternoon. I was not happy at all. I'm happy that Kimi [Raikkonen] got on the podium, but my race started quite bad, and finished quite bad.

"We didn't have the grip, which is part of the game when you are on harder compounds, and Lewis and Valtteri worked together. Max got past on Lap 3, it was a bit of an optimistic jump, but he was quicker than us in the end anyway."

  10. 'Max has driven with discipline this season'published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

More from Christian Horner, speaking to Sky Sports: "We just want to finish on a high, Daniel [Ricciardo] drove a fantastic race. His moves on Bottas were amazing, and he made a call before the turn to say 'I'm going'.

"Since the summer break Max has only just scored less points than Lewis. He's driven with discipline. Mercedes had to pit early they and were exposed on that tyre. It’s a crying shame and it’s a long trip home for us.

"Our race pace was better than we anticipated. Congrats to everyone at Mercedes, we’re just disappointed we lost the race here."

  11. 'Clearly you shouldn't interfere as a lapped car with the leader'published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Christian Horner, Red Bull's team boss says: "If the lead car has just lapped a Force India, clearly you shouldn't interfere as a lapped car with the leader."

"What on earth Ocon was thinking there is beggars belief. I think look they are quick on the straight, but why on earth is he racing the leader if he doesn’t have the pace and he chucked the car up the inside there, it makes no sense.

"I think Max has been restrained to be honest, he drove his heart out in a damaged car and Esteban is lucky, and I told Max to get it under control in the cool down lap.

"We did everything right we had Mercedes on the ropes, we passed Ferrari so it was frustrating for everyone.

"To close on Lewis again with half the floor missing, the amount of downforce he's lost is a lot. We could see the front tyre of Lewis’ was opening up, but with the damage he didn’t quite have enough pace to catch him.

  12. 'Lewis has driven perfectly'published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Mercedes race engineer Pete Bonnington, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's been the best championship yet. It's been fantastic, given how competitive it's been.

"It's been an awesome year. Lewis has driven perfectly. Lewis always wants to win.

"Mexico was a tough race, and didn;t feel one we could celebrate. But this has been a solid weekend, and we're go to go for it.

"We're going to relish the rest of the season, but as soon as this is out of the way, we go on to the next season, because we want another."

  13. 'Esteban asked us if can he do it, and we said yes'published at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Otmar Szafnauer says: "That conspiracy theory I doubt. Drivers aren't thinking about what their positions are going to be in 2020."

"Esteban came on the radio and said 'can I unlap myself because I'm quicker' and we said 'yeah go ahead.' He did, at that point we had a tyre advantage and we probably would have for the next 5-6 laps.

"Whatever Max was doing with his tyres... were racing other people, in our race we had to do it. Esteban asked us if can he do it, and we said yes."

  15. 'Max wanted to punch me'published at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Esteban Ocon, speaking to Sky Sports: "I was behind Max for two laps. On the first lap, I was a lot faster, and on the second lap, I was a lot faster. The rules say you are allowed to unlap yourself so that's what I did.

"I went round the outside; it was the same move oI did on Alonso, and on other drivers as I worked my way back up the field, but it didn't work out the same way.

"I was really surprised by the behaviour of Max, afterwards, with the FIA having to intervene. He pushed me and wanted to punch me and that is not professional.

"I'm used to the fights with Max. He's always been the same. It goes back a few years."

  16. 'This is very satisfying'published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has race engineer Pete Bonnington alongside him as he speaks to Sky Sports, and he keen to give him plenty of credit, saying: "This man is incredible, he's been working with Lewis since the very beginning.

"It was a very difficult season, up and down. Ferrari came back very strong and Red Bull too, so this is very satisfying."

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I had this in a GP2 race in 2013. Sergio Canamasas, a Spanish driver with a reputation for not being the cleanest of drivers, and he took me out when he was a lap down. This was a GP2 race, and I was maybe on the fringes of the points, and I was fuming. He's not in your race. I went to go and see him after the race, for sure. And that was not for a Formula 1 grand prix victory.

JT: Kimi on the podium channeling his inner terminator.

Reece Young: The Ocon incident is a strange one because it changes for people based on if they are racing for position or not. If they are - Max is at fault for squeezing him. But if not it's more Ocon's fault. However Ocon did have every right to unlap himself. Strange one

Alex Lloyd: Max was definitely ahead in the race, but he was side by side with the Ocon going into the corner. Ocon was all the way over on the kerb on the inside. What else was he supposed to do? If Max had been over to the left just a fraction of a car width. He’d have survived it.

  20. 'Max is not right to shove Ocon'published at 18:58 Greenwich Mean Time 11 November 2018

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It's to be expected. It's a grand prix victory he's been deprived of. He's not right to go shoving Ocon around, even if emotions are running high. He might get into some trouble with the FIA.

I don't think it was deliberate from Ocon to help Merecdes as such, but he positioned his car so he could take out the race leader. It wasn't like Verstappen was lapping him into Turn Two. Verstappen was ahead and Ocon was charging around the outside at Turn One. It was a crazy move by Esteban Ocon.
