Max Verstappen comes in but goes back out on the red softs. That means he will have to pit again later on for a late onslaught. No move so far from Mercedes, with Hamilton going even faster to move seven seconds ahead.

  2. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 12 May 2019

Vettel is the only one of the top 13 to be on the mediums and not the softs.

The Ferrari mechanics sprint out, each holding a medium tyre. Sebastian Vettel finally gets his wish. A bit of a slow stop.

He went in at fifth position and comes out at 10th. Ouch.

Vettel's sounding a bit stroppy over the team radio, wanting to get rid of those tyres that he himself wrecked with an ambitious attempt to take the race lead on the first lap.

It didn't work out too well, but at least he gave it a go. "Pit me when you can," is him pleading to come in.

    Lap 13/66

The orange-clad Max Verstappen fans are in Spain in great numbers. But, not for the first time this season, it's looking a bit lonely for the Dutchman. Three seconds off Bottas in second and five clear of the fourth-placed man.

That is now Charles Leclerc as Sebastian Vettel, on the damaged tyres, moves over to let his team-mate through. Why they didn't do that a couple of laps earlier? Who knows?

We have an interesting situation at Ferrari: Vettel flat spotted his tyres, and Charles Leclerc is within a second of Vettel - he's done the fastest first sector and he's now being held up by his team-mate.

In China, they were quick to swap positions, so will they do so today?
