Hamilton: "I don't know what you're thinking by keeping these tyres on man. You need to hope for a miracle."
Lap 60/78
Do not go anywhere. There is going to be some late drama here.
Lap 59/78
Those medium tyres on Hamilton have been out for 47 laps. They have to go another 19.
Hamilton still leads from Verstappen #bbcf1
Kristine Kirby: Get Bonno's soothing tones to tell Lewis Hamilton to drive IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD on those tyres, and tell him Max's tyres are going off and Vettel is having to lift!!!
Lap 58/78
Hamilton: "We're going to lose this rear front I can't look after this tyre it's dead."
Pete Bonnington: "Lewis, just thinking about it, if we manage to do the same pace as the cars in front, and you can still hold Verstappen behind...
H: "I can't keep the car behind, Bono, can't you see that?"
P: "Yeah, no problem Lewis - Verstappen has been there all race."
Lap 58/78
If Hamilton does have to come in to the pits, we will have a crazy race between Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel. Verstappen will have an open track, but would need to finish more than five seconds clear of the Ferrari man.
A pit stop for Hamilton would drop him down to fourth, behind his team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
Lap 56/78
Lewis Hamilton's radio messages are getting more and more panicky. Engineer Pete Bonnington is trying to stay calm, but it's getting tougher.
Can Hamilton hang on? #bbcf1
quixoticgeek: Come on Lewis. If Daniel can win with 160HP less, you can do it on dead tyres. Just keep the rolling road block going!
PBM: Hamilton is playing mind games. He will drive to the end in these yellows and win the grand prix.
Lap 55/78
Hamilton is on the mediums (and hating them), Verstappen (second with a time penalty to come) is on the hards, Vettel (third at the moment) too.
Lap 54/78
Listen as Max Verstappen is given a five-second penalty for an unsafe release in the pitlane.

Lap 52/78
Well, it is Kimi's 300th race, so he leads the party games.

Lap 52/78
Can Hamilton's tyres go until the end of this race? The answer to that could well determine who wins this race. If not, Sebastian Vettel's miserable season may take a stunning change in direction.
Lap 50/78
Hamilton: “I think I’m in big trouble guys, my left front is dead.”
Engineer: “Copy Lewis, all we can do is go as long as we can, we aren’t going to box now.”

WeaklingChild: Bonnington is the computer in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that gets calmer the more dangerous and immediate the situation is. We all need one of those!
Lap 51/78
We have 28 laps remaining. Race leader Lewis Hamilton is extremely unhappy with his tyres, and has been for a long time. That is still a long, long way left.
Lap 50/78
At the moment, the Mercedes run of one-two finishes is going to be ending. Sebastian Vettel is third, but will be promoted to second because of Max Verstappen's five-second penalty still to come.
Lap 49/78
Lance Stroll has just picked up a five-second penalty and may have another one coming as he holds up Valtteri Bottas. A tough day for Bottas gets even worse.
Hamilton: "I'm definitely in a bad way."
