Your thoughts on a potential London GP? Could there be two F1 races held in Britain?

Peter: The only thing that would discourage fans from two GP's in the UK is the silly, unjustifiable price of tickets. It's nothing to do with the spectacle - just the scary cost.

KW: Street races are rubbish. The last thing F1 needs are any more. Monaco is the dullest race of the year. Keep F1 to racing tracks

Mike Mawby: What is it with ⁦F1 and their obsession with city centre based circuits? How many produce great races?

Bad news for Nico Hulkenberg, who will take Renault's new 'B spec' engine today. It means a five-place grid penalty for the German.

Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon are also set to start at the back because of power unit changes.

Your thoughts on a potential London GP? Could there be two F1 races held in Britain?

Adrian: A Grand Prix in London will never happen. It would be a logistical nightmare. It’s a thing that wheeled out every year to put pressure on Silverstone.

Animesh Kishore: I'd rather have Silverstone than London. First race I ever watched was Silverstone GP 2004 with Schumi and Kimi tussling all race long. Fell in love with the atmosphere and old school nature of it. I doubt a street race in London would ever come close. Sad times if it does happen

Daniela Haarmann: To drop Silverstone would be a shame. It is such a great race with a lot of tradition. London would be another "slow" city race. Formula 1 doesn't need more city races but more traditional ones!

It is not quite as hot as it was on Friday but the temperature appears to be rising on track nonetheless. Although Mercedes have dominated the season so far, form has fluctuated depending on track layout this season, and Austria looks like being another race where Ferrari have a decent chance. It would be rash, given the way the season has panned out so far, to further than that.

But certainly on Friday, the red cars were competitive. Is it game on? And if it is, can Ferrari and their drivers finally put together a clean weekend?

Formula 1's desire to hold a race in London is causing Silverstone to reconsider plans to sign a new contract for the British Grand Prix.

Silverstone's contract runs out after next month's race and it had agreed terms on a new deal before F1 told it of plans to hold a race in the Docklands area of east London.

Silverstone managing director Stuart Pringle said the plan "significantly increases the risk" in holding the race but added that talks are ongoing and the parties hope for a resolution.

An F1 spokesman said: "We are still in constructive talks with Silverstone."

The concern at Silverstone is that a London Grand Prix could reduce its attendance figure sufficiently to make the race unviable.

After the session had finished, there was a big story on our Formula 1 pages. Here's Andrew...

And this was the report from the second session...

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc set the pace in a dramatic second practice session at the Austrian Grand Prix as Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen crashed.

Mercedes driver Bottas and Red Bull's Verstappen both went off heavily, the session stopped each time for their badly damaged cars to be recovered.

And Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel also had a big spin, just avoiding a crash. Leclerc ended up ahead of Bottas, Red Bull's Pierre Gasly and championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

It is almost unprecedented for three such big-name drivers to have such significant incidents in one session - especially when no-one else crashed.

    In session one...

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton headed Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel in first practice at the Austrian Grand Prix. Hamilton was 0.144 seconds quicker than Vettel on one of the shortest tracks of the year but was on soft tyres while the German was on the slower medium.

Vettel spent the session trying new parts on his Ferrari and was 0.017secs up on the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was fourth quickest, ahead of Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly.

Nico Hulkenberg, Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen all suffered some damage to their cars with Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly both lucky not to crash after heading off through the gravel.
