He comes past me and there is a nose cone to be changed and tyres ready to be changed too. (Mediums for hards)
That's a really long stop, it looks like they were struggling to get that new nose cone on.
Lap 31/71
It is not the best of stops from Mercedes. A front wing change and that will drop Hamilton down to fifth.
"Box, box, box, box," Hamilton is told.
Pete Bonnington tells him they are going to change that troublesome front wing on the Mercedes.
And Hamilton will be coming in now.

Mercedes and Hamilton have just lost a lot of pace. He has clear air ahead of him and he's lapping the same time as Racing Point, something is now happening with Hamilton.
Ferrari pit stop shambles #bbcf1
Francoise Moore: You had one job
Philip West: Ferrari left looking like rank amateurs yet again in the pit stops. This team, in terms of organisation and structure, are nothing short of a shambles
Ranting MP: Ferrari...pit stop, driver in the box, on his marks, tyres not ready
Rob Hill: Why have Ferrari forgotten all the fundamentals of strategy this season? Red noses all round.
Lap 30/71
Hamilton is unhappy with his front wing, reporting a loss of downforce, and is asking his team to check it out. He has not pitted yet, but may have to earlier than he wanted to. Has the sausage kerb bitten him, just as it did to a few others including Nico Hulkenberg and Lance Stroll in practice?

Ferrari, I think, have pitted and covered off the wrong Mercedes here with Bottas pitting.

Mercedes were out ready for Valtteri Bottas to come in, and Vettel came rumbling past and took us all by surprise. The teams practice these pit stops so much so they will be frustrated with that one.
Lap 27/71
Norris comes in to the pits, much to the relief of Sebastian Vettel. Hamilton first and Verstappen second, both on the mediums, both yet to stop,

Alex Withington: Looks like it's pretty easy to make #F1 more interesting. Just have every race in Austria
Nick Perkins: So at what point can we say Lando Norris is the best of the rest?
Ranting MrP: Is Carlos Sainz particularly slow this weekend, or is Norris just that much faster? And, at this rate, surely Gasly must start worrying about his Red Bull seat?
Lap 26/71
Charles Leclerc has come into the pits and thankfully for him Ferrari get the stop done in a routine fashion. That means Lewis Hamilton inherits the lead. But have Ferrari just ruined Sebastian Vettel's hopes of a podium finish?
He had been ninth at the start, got up to fourth but then that pitstop has seen him come back out behind Lando Norris, so Vettel is going to be wasting time trying to get ahead of him.
"Come on, push hard," Mercedes tell Hamilton.
"Tyres are good," comes the reply.

6.1 seconds for Ferrari, it looks like they weren't ready with the tyres.
Vettel is going to come out behind Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo, and that's his race scuppered. Bottas lost time in there too.
Lap 24/71
Seeing that pit stop again and Ferrari don't have the tyres ready. Then the reaction from the Ferrari mechanics shows just how much they've messed up. One of them looks like he wants to punch a wall of the garage.

Lap 23/71
Disaster for Sebastian Vettel, as Ferrari seem to not have their tyres ready and it takes four seconds more than it should.
Valtteri Bottas is caught up in it too, as he is also in the pits and had to wait for Vettel to get out of the way.

Gasly is going to have to get adventurous on the brakes on Raikkonen here.
Lap 22/71
This is how we stand after eight races. Hamilton with a 36-point advantage over Valtteri Bottas. Charles Leclerc is on course to move above Max Verstappen and into fourth.
Lap 20/71
Kvyat finally gets back ahead of George Russell. The Williams pair still have Kevin Magnussen behind them after his drive-through penalty.
