Hamilton ahead of Bottas and Verstappen

Arthur Moore: Does Bottas' desire for a new contract just outweigh his desire to be a world champion?

Salaryman: We are living in a fantastic era of Lewis Hamilton. True greatness right there.

Our leader Lewis Hamilton is on 86 race wins, five short of Michael Schumacher's all-time record of 91, and the Brit's lead is now at the two-second mark in this one.

Max Verstappen is ambling around in third with no company. He's seven seconds off Hamilton, five behind Bottas and nine clear of Charles Leclerc in fourth.

Bottas was dozy again. The second safety car restart was never going to pressure Hamilton. It was OK, but I can imagine role reversal Hamilton would put the pressure on.

Now Bottas' pace is fine but he just needs to get back to within a second to put pressure on Hamilton.

Romain Grosjean is falling backwards quite quickly. One McLaren man has just passed him, so too has the other now as Norris is up to sixth, Grosjean seventh.

    Hamilton leads from Bottas

Willem: That is a very odd penalty for Albon. I wonder what the reasoning was: he seemed to be ahead.

Louis: Can we just make McLaren a three car team and unite Sainz, Norris and Ricciardo.

Matthew Chapman: And it's all getting very interesting!

    Albon given five-second time penalty

Chris Lord: That 5 second time penalty is harsh! Where was he supposed to go? Going to give Kvyat a penalty for causing a collision with the barrier next.

Anastassia Cassar: I do not agree in the slightest the penalty to Albon. Where was he supposed to go??

  12. Postpublished at Lap 21/52

Romain Grosjean is the only one on the mediums, everyone else is on the hards so will have to pit at some stage. Another safety car reasonably soon and a free pit stop for him could give him a chance of some points. He is fifth at the moment, he started 17th.

  13. Albon handed five-second penalty for Magnussen incidentpublished at Lap 19/52

The stewards have said Alexander Albon is the man to blame for that opening lap incident that ended Kevin Magnussen's day.

Five-second penalty for the Red Bull man, who is already down in 14th so a points finish is looking a long way off for him.

Great racing from the two McLarens and Daniel Ricciardo!

Romain Grosjean closes in on the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc as we go again. Lando Norris goes wide to get past Ricciardo, it takes a few corners, but beautiful from the young Brit as he gets it done at Luffield.

Hamilton is clearly concerned that his hard tyres - the hardest to warm up - are going to be very cool when this race is restarted.

Sometimes the safety car cannot go any quicker but in a Formula 1 car it will feel so slow.

  20. 'Kvyat blaming himself'published at Lap 16/52

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

I think that looked like a rear right issue. He doesn't seem to know it and that is why the pushed the camera out of the way when he leaned up against the barriers. It seems like he is taking all the blame for that but it looked like a right rear failure.
