  2. Two stopper?published at Lap 21/44

    Jennie Gow
BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter

With the hard tyre you should be able to get 40 laps, that is what Pirelli reckon and this race is only 44 laps in total, but I do wonder if this has turned into a two stop race.

  3. Postpublished at Lap 21/44

Sergio Perez and Racing Point's gamble to stay out on the softs when almost everyone else pitted after that Giovinazzi-Russell incident proves to be a disastrous one.

He comes in to the pits and comes back out in 17th, otherwise known as last.

    Hamilton leads from team-mate Bottas

Ambrose Shepherd: Normally I'm pretty positive about F1, but hearing that "but not against each other" Bottas radio conversation is the most dispiriting thing I've heard in years, and I'm a Hamilton fan. I'm not going to stop watching, but it does feel all a bit pointless.

Chris: Hamilton clearly trolling the fans... "Lost power!" Behave. He's straight back up out of DRS range again. F1 is dead right now.

Francesca Gunn: Yes hammy built a gap, nearly had a heart attack when he said he had loss of power. Whew!!

  5. 'They're racing for pride'published at Lap 20/44

Very, very close to a Rosberg-Hamilton 'Nico hit me' Spa 2014 for the two Ferrari drivers there.

So close, but they are racing for pride. Chance of points are slim. Vettel will not want to be passed by Leclerc full stop, especially around the outside.

  6. Postpublished at Lap 20/44

At Les Combes the two Ferraris go wheel-to-wheel as Charles Leclerc attacks around the outside. The pair nearly smash into each other, which would've just about summed up their weekend and season so far.

There would have been some nervous faces in the Ferrari garages and Leclerc, just about, gets the move done, with both staying on the track.

  7. Going to the end of the race?published at 14:52 British Summer Time 30 August 2020

Bottas is on the hard tyres, they have a chance to get to the end of the race and you would have thought that would be the plan.

Hamilton leads from Bottas after restart

Reece Young: Is there anyone better at restarts than Lewis Hamilton?

Take2Four: Big big chance for Bottas and Max, someone has to go for it for the sake of this race.

  11. Hamilton OK nowpublished at Lap 17/44

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

He is all OK now is Hamilton and he did end up setting the fastest lap. It is probably why Bottas got as close as he did.

  12. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 30 August 2020

Crisis over for Lewis Hamilton. A loss of power was mentioned, he's just set the fastest lap.

  13. Postpublished at Lap 16/44

Sixteen laps gone - Carlos Sainz failed to start because of an exhaust issue. Antonio Giovinazzi went into the wall and his crash then caused George Russell to do the same.

  14. Postpublished at Lap 16/44

Charles Leclerc has a trip to the stewards later on, going too slow in a lap before the race started.

  15. Postpublished at Lap 16/44

Is this a problem for Lewis Hamilton, who says "a loss of power"?

  16. Postpublished at Lap 15/44

Valtteri Bottas just about does enough to shut the door on the flying Dutchman. Bottas still second, Verstappen still third, Hamilton still ahead of both of them.

  17. Postpublished at Lap 14/44

Max Verstappen on the attack, trying to snatch second from Valtteri Bottas immediately after the restart.

  19. Albon tries something differentpublished at Lap 14/44

    Jennie Gow
BBC Radio 5 live pit-lane reporter

Only one car in that pit stop phase decided to do something a bit different and that was Albon's. He is on medium everyone else went onto the hard tyre.

  20. Postpublished at Lap 14/44

Racing Point are rolling the dice and seeing what happens. They've decided to keep Sergio Perez on the softs that he started with. He gets fifth as a result.

Another safety car in the near future could mean that decision is a brilliant one.
