Hamilton with work to do after sector one.

Jolyon Palmer says: "Who can handle the pressure?! It's all about hooking it over 15 corners on one lap as good as they have done it in Q2 - but now there is the pressure of pole position.

"Lewis Hamilton is so good in this position. He's gained so many poles at this stage in a qualifying sessions."

Verstappen? Bottas? Hamilton? Who will it be? Hamilton will finish his lap first, then Bottas, then Verstappen. Drama.

We've waited a long time for a qualifying session like this. Can Verstappen remain at the top? Five minutes to go.

Mercedes have had 10 out of 10 poles in 2020. They're in a rare position of having work to do.

First attempt and it's Max Verstappen at the top with a 1:25.744. He is only just ahead of Valtteri Bottas by 0.068 seconds.

Lewis Hamilton, with six wins out of 10 races this season, is only on the second row at the moment. An incredible 0.081 seconds separates the top three.

They will all have one lap to change this.

  10. 'It was crazier than last time'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

Nico Hulkenberg, who will start 20th after a late call-up to replace the ill Lance Stroll, has been speaking to Sky Sports and says: "It was even crazier than last time

"I was due to come here anyway for TV. I was sat with a friend having a coffee when a call come in from Otmar Szafnauer saying 'we need you'. It's a 2.0 return and I was here in a heartbeat.

"The car felt quite different to Silverstone. The car has moved on technically. I just needed to find my feet again and in four laps that's not easy but I'm happy with the laps we produced.

"Tomorrow will be very difficult and a hell of a challenge. I have the experience and tomorrow we will just go race and see what happens. You just have to expect the unexpected."

  12. Who gets pole?published at 14:48 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

Lewis Hamilton has 96 pole positions to his name, Valtteri Bottas 13. This season it's been a Mercedes wipeout with eight for Hamilton (including the last five in a row) and two for Bottas.

Max Verstappen, surprisingly, has only started two races at the front, but none this year. Can he make it a third pole of his career now and end Mercedes' qualifying dominance?

Basically for Mercedes, if they think they have the pace for the front, whatever the tyre Red Bull want to be on, Mercedes want to be on the same. If they have the pace to be on pole and the fastest car, you want to take away the divergent strategies that can give Red Bull the chance to win tomorrow.
