  2. 'A great pity'published at 10:45 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

As Andrew has said, it was a hugely frustrating day for Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott as they were unable to take part in what would have been their first F1 practice sessions.

They're one and two in the F2 standings so hopefully just a matter of time before they get out there and show us what they can do.

  6. Fog prevents Eifel Grand Prix practicepublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

    Andrew Benson
    BBC Sport’s chief F1 writer

Low cloud forced the cancellation of both Friday practice sessions at the Eifel Grand Prix.

The medical helicopter was unable to fly at the Nurburgring as a result of the conditions, which meant the cars could not run on safety grounds.

F1 rules dictate that the road journey to a suitable hospital must be no longer than 20 minutes, and the nearest medical facilities are 54km away.

The teams will now have one practice session on Saturday before qualifying.

The lack of running meant that Ferrari young drivers Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott were unable to have their scheduled outings in the Alfa Romeo and Haas cars in the first session.

Hello and welcome along to BBC Sport's coverage of practice and then qualifying. As always we will have live radio commentary with our excellent team.

We should get going at 11:00 BST. We've got some catching up to do.

  8. Better than Fridaypublished at 10:29 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

It was a frustrating Friday with nothing at all happening.

So that sets up a super Saturday and it promises to be a frantic, chaotic and (hopefully) dramatic day of action.
