Your best Kimi moments / should he stay in F1 in 2021?

Doug Duncan: Of course Kimi should stay in F1, he’s fast, popular, non political, not controversial just wants to drive fast and deliver. Pity he couldn’t get a drive with Vettel next year as he drives hard for Alfa Romeo but the car doesn’t deliver.

Oliver C: Raikonnen needs to be in the points this weekend as I have a cheeky bet on an unpredictable race.

  3. 'Running wide'published at 11:19 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

We've had a few drivers on the grass on the run-off at the chicane. Valtteri Bottas has been through there, Esteban Ocon earlier on was through there.

A few drivers also running wide and having lap times deleted for track limits at Turn Four; Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc have all had times taken away.

You've got to keep at last one wheel on the white line on the exit at Turn Four. Doesn't feel like it's a huge gain but it's the natural momentum of the car pushes you wide.

  4. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

Vettel spins. Briefly bringing out the yellow flags. He's OK, flips it round and off he goes again.

  5. 'Overheat the rear tyres'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live

On Max Verstappen saying the rear tyres are starting to drop:

That's probably the grip. He did two or three flying laps in a row, went to the top of the times but now he's been jumped by his team-mate Alex Albon.

When you do consecutive laps, you can overheat the rear tyres, even in these temperatures.

  6. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

We've had Nico Hulkenberg stepping in for Sergio Perez at short notice already this season. Will Racing Point need to call up another replacement? One to monitor.

  8. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

Daniil Kvyat goes for a slide across the grass. He's OK, mown some grass and all good to carry on.

  9. Postpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

But Verstappen's time at the top doesn't last long and it's team-mate Alexander Albon who leaps to the top thanks to a 1:30.177.

Just as I write that, Verstappen regains top spot slicing it down to a 1:28.866.

No times from Sebastian Vettel or Lance Stroll, they're the only two to not trouble the scorers so far.

  10. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

Max Verstappen, who has the bizarre record of either being on the podium or failing to finish at all of the 10 races so far this season, is an early leader with a lap of 1:30.576. He's on the mediums.

  11. Tyre talkpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

These are the tyres around this weekend. The mediums are the tyre of choice for most, with a few - Perez, Ricciardo and Kvyat - trying out the softs.

The track is super, super slippery! It wouldn't be surprising to see some early spinners.

Your best Kimi moments / should he stay in F1 in 2021?

Sulaimon Adelekan: My favourite moment of Kimi Raikkonen is winning the title in 2007 with Ferrari.

Gavin Finlayson: Keeping Kimi makes sense if Mick Schumacher is going to be in the other Alfa. He is experienced, politics-free zone and will be a good guide for car set up. 1 year contract only though.

  14. Cars on track!published at 11:02 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

It's a day late, but the Eifel Grand Prix weekend is under way properly now!

One hour. It's going to be busy.

  15. 'Challenging conditions'published at 11:00 British Summer Time 10 October 2020

    Jack Nicholls
BBC Radio 5 Live F1 commentator

The track is dampish. They have just had a classic touring car event on the circuit, so that's sort of dried it up a little bit.

There are probably slicks but there are still damp patches down the back straight, down towards the hairpin at Turn Seven. Really, really challenging conditions.
