Verstappen might have to use a second set of tyres here. He's down in ninth place and he's only seven tenths ahead of Kimi Raikkonen who you'd expect to be around the danger zone.

Hamilton goes seventh fastest on those used tyres. That should be enough to get out of Q1.

    Settle down.

Hamilton has stayed out on the same tyres and is now on a flying lap.

Eight minutes to go. Bottas leads from Perez, Albon, Stroll and Sainz.

Hamilton, Latifi, Russell, Ocon and Giovinazzi are in danger at the moment.

  5. Hamilton's time ruled outpublished at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Ooooo. Now then. I said Hamilton sent wide and his time has been scratched off. The replays show a lot of sparks and the car bumping over the kerb.

He's on the radio saying he needs the car checking.

Maybe damage to the underside of Hamilton's car there. The mechanics will give that a check when he comes in.

That would have not been very pleasant for Hamilton sitting in the car.

  7. Bottas leadspublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2020

Verstappen's incident in the pit lane, which also included Latiffi, is going to be investigated.

Hamilton takes a wide - and bumpy - route at the final corner but goes fastest. Bottas beats his seconds later.

George Russell is sadly going to be a long way away from his front row finish of last weekend. He sets his first time and it's slower than both Haas cars.

Max Verstappen is out and is unhappy after having to quickly put on the brakes in the pit lane. He's got a flat spot on his tyres already.

That was decent stuff from Fittipaldi to only be a tenth away from Magnussen. I'm a bit impressed with Fittipaldi actually.

All-but four drivers are out on the circuit. There's a lot more space than at the Sakhir Grand Prix last week when all cars were crammed into a 2.2 mile track.

Simon Rockett: Winners - F1 for getting a season together, teams for pulling it off. Losers - fans, for not being able to be there. And Bottas.

Haas' Pietro Fittipaldi is one of the first out of the pit on his grandad Emerson's 74th birthday.

Stephen Taylor: Biggest winners this year have to be Hamilton, Sainz , Gasly and Perez . The big losers for me are Albon , Kyvat and anyone in a Ferrari powered car.

Simon Baker: Winners: Perez and Gasly (the former for having by far the best year of his career, the latter achieving redemption from the bashing he took at Red Bull) Loser: Bottas, his inconsistent performances have negatively affected him.
