Nick Gisburne: Without a time penalty for Sainz, Stroll now definitely has to pass Sainz. With a penalty he could have stayed within 5 seconds behind.

Max Verstappen's lead is 7.2 seconds. This may well be the easiest race he has ever had so far.

Kayleigh: What’s the point?! Nothing is happening. Investigate now.

Cactus Jack: What a cop out. Why can't they decide during a race no more ?

It should be an obvious situation for the stewards. It should be an obvious decision. Give us a decision!

Generally, as a rule of thumb, if these things are investigated after the race we don't see penalties.

Into the second half of this race. In football terms, this was a 0-0 without a shot on target in the first half.

Right. Something, happen. The second half could well be a thriller. Let's hope so.

Carlos Sainz being under investigation for going too slow in the pitlane won't be sorted out until after the race. McLaren will be sweating for a long time.

At the moment it looks hunky dory for Verstappen. But the tyres not going to the end will just give Mercedes a chance. It could give us a grandstand finish.

Verstappen: "To be honest with you, for everyone it will be quite difficult to get to the end."

We could yet have some strategy ramifications late on.

"I don't think these tyres are going all the way to the end," Hamilton says.

Hirsty: Hamilton needs to take Bottas to make this interesting...Bottas won't challenge Verstappen.

Remember, the British Grand Prix was quite dull up to the point the tyres started popping like bubbles late on and it caused all sorts of chaos. It's never over until it's over.

Bottas is struggling. He is dropping back. Hamilton is within two seconds of his team-mate.

I wonder if Mercedes might consider swapping their drivers.

Charles Leclerc does pit and is sent right to the back. It's a long way from there to the points with passing extremely limited.

Chris(tmas): Pointing out Albon is 1sec per lap slower than Verstappen after the safety car on the same tyres/strategy and both with some clean air ahead. This is why Red Bull can’t keep Alex if they’re serious about taking the fight to Mercedes next year in races.

"We are going to lose a lot more by staying out five more laps," Leclerc says.

The decision to not pit Leclerc is looking awful right now.

The race looks great under the lights, in one of the best backdrops of the season. That's the nicest thing I can say at the moment.

Max Verstappen won't care though if it's not thrilling. He's got a 4.2 second lead and heading for his second win of the season as it stands.

Nick Reeve: Imagine this being a title decider, this is an awful circuit and needs reconfiguring.

Jezz: This has to be THE worst track to finish the season at! A total borefest, with almost zero chance for overtakes.

Quixoticgreek: Has Leclerc accidentally got in Vettel's car this weekend? He's going backwards...

Willem Mevius: Albon a second a lap slower than Verstappen on similar tyres. Not good enough to secure his seat for next year I think.
