If Bottas can get ahead of Perez on track, he will have enough time to hunt down the McLaren two.

What a drive this has been from Bottas. He's taken a lot of stick recently and been dropped by Mercedes. But this performance shows Alfa Romeo are getting to be getting one fine racer next season.

Daniel Ricciardo is now two seconds clear of Lando Norris. He has benefited quite well from that virtual safety car!

Simon: Surely in terms of the constructors title it's crucial that Perez keeps Bottas behind him as long as possible to prevent him from gaining even more points by passing the two Mclarens?

Kayleigh: I want McLaren to win but I also want VB to win. Do you see my dilemma here?

Ben Simons: Love the little bit of ‘street wise’ racing from Perez against Bottas there.

We're back racing, 15 remain. It's a McLaren one-two with eight laps to go.

Can Daniel Ricciardo hang on to this one?

That was equisite wheel-to-wheel racing between Bottas and Perez. Bottas went too deep on the brakes. A well-measured defence by Perez.

A very brief virtual safety car as Mazepin's stricken Haas is pushed away.

Bottas attacks Sergio Perez for an on-track third, it's some more wheel-to-wheel brilliance that we all love to see. Perez looks like he's lost the place, but times an exit perfectly to hold on to third on track.

Although he's going to lose it later on anyway with a penalty incoming.

Great footage of Toto Wolff screaming with fists aloft when he thinks Bottas has got it done, only to realise Perez fights back.

The longer those medium tyres go, they will start to lose their edge and degrade quicker.

Thomas Knights: The McLaren race pace is actually pretty mediocre, Stroll, Alonso and Russell all matching their pace.

Chris Wignall: The problem with these penalties is that by the end of the race Perez will have cleared Leclerc anyway. I feel like Charlie Whiting would have ordered him to give the place back immediately.

Nikita Mazepin gets a five-second penalty for causing Mick Schmacher to spin. Apologies, I'd said it was Vettel at fault, but it's Mazepin to blame, to wreck team harmony even more.

Mazepin now last of those left in, all 16 of them.

The last thing McLaren want is for Norris to go and attack Ricciardo for the win as it will give Perez and Bottas the chance to pick up the pieces.

I did the exact same move as Sergio Perez myself in 2017 - and I got a five-second penalty!

  18. Perez penaltypublished at Lap 38/53

A penalty for Sergio Perez, five seconds for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, while overtaking Leclerc.

As it stands, Perez would have his penalty added to his final time, so that would drop him to sixth from third.
