  5. 'Verstappen impressing'published at 14:22 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

    Jack Nicholls
BBC Radio 5 Live F1 commentator

Hamilton has been known as the rain maestro but Verstappen is doing a really impressive job today.

  6. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

But Norris then gets ahead of Gasly again when it dries off once more. Gasly will be needing some more rain or will have to ditch those full wets.

  7. 'Verstappen good on the brakes'published at 14:20 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Leclerc is looking extremely racey. Hamilton had a great restart and attack Verstappen. Verstappen was very good on the brakes.

    Three wide. Sensational action.

Gasly, Stroll, Norris and the Briton gets the move done, he's overtaken two at once. Brilliant! But Gasly, on the full wets, then retakes the McLaren man on the wetter part of the track.

That's for sixth, seventh and eighth.

Tom McQuillin: I love Formula 1 so much. How can you watch races like this and not see how dramatic this sport is?! So glad it’s back.

Sam: This has been a hectic start to the Grand Prix!

Reece Young: Surely Perez should have to give those places back. He went off track and lost them then overtook on circuit which isn't allowed under safety car.

Most are still on the inters, with Gasly and Mazepin on the full wets.

Hamilton in second attacks Verstappen on the restart, but the Dutchman holds on to the lead.

  12. Perez in trouble?published at 14:17 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I don't think Perez was entitled to retake the position from the gravel.

Schumacher is having to limp around the track though as the pitlane is closed. Lewis Hamilton picked up a hefty penalty last season when he entered the pitlane when it was closed.

Josh Earle: That start did not go to plan for Lewis!!

Cactus Jack: Oh Mickey !!! What's going on c'mon.

Daniel Eckersley: More rain in the pit lane, insane in the membrane.

  17. Perez through the gravelpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

  18. Team radio - Red Bull to Verstappenpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

"Another weather update, Max. We're expecting these conditions for the next 10 minutes."

  19. Latifi to blame for crashpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

    Jolyon Palmer
Former Renault driver on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

The crash is on Latifi. Mazepin was minding his own business. He has basically driven Mazepin onto the crash.

  20. Schumacher has crashed behind the safety carpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 18 April 2021

We're under the safety car, but that's not stopping the drama. Mick Schumacher has gone into the wall, damaged his Haas, but can get it going again so may still be able to stay in the race. The nose of the car is looking mangled and the front wing has gone, so work for Haas to do.
