BBC weatherman Ian Fergusson, please tell us some good news?

"Showers developing west of circuit aren't showing signs of developing so rapidly and heavily as those we've already seen.

"I'd like to hope we are now approaching a tipping point to get this gig underway, after sufficient drainage of standing water satisfies race director."

The clouds are shifting to the east, I can see sun breaking through the horizon. It's not raining, it's all going in the right direction and I am positive we can get this one going.

Pete Ainsworth: Typical FIA. They throw a red flag, and the rain stops... Now they'll delay for 10-15 minutes, and 5 minutes before they're due to restart the rain will start coming down again...

Simon: If this race had been somewhere other than Monaco would it have started in these conditions? Are race control being more safety conscious because of the complexity and high chance of accidents at this circuit?

As Peter Kay once said, it's that fine rain that soaks you through.

Spa was really set in. We have a lot of intense rain but it only started raining half an hour ago. There is time for this to sort itself out.

The hills around Monaco are shrouded in dark clouds. Everyone in the paddock is dripping wet, so Haas boss Guenther Steiner whacks up a massive golf umbrella to stay dry.

  15. 'Too wet to be racing out there'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 29 May 2022

Red Bull team principle Christian Horner on Sky Sports: "Its the right thing to have stopped it now but I'm not sure why we didn't get going in the first place - but now it's too wet to be racing out there.

"We were neutral to it [the rain] - we needed something, whether it was a safety car or whatever. If we were on pole we would be a lot less happy with the weather but being in the second row it does create something.

"It depends on the conditions - a standing start would be dangerous right now. We're expecting rain for 10 minutes and then for it to get better - if it does start to clear a bit then a standing start would be preferable.

"We've all got radars that we're tuned into but there is a bit of a micro-climate in Monaco and then I think some confusion was caused by the change and the delay."

    Jolyon Palmer

It is way too wet to drive. It is a crazy amount of water. Now I just hope it dries up at some point so we can go racing. Now I am thinking back to Spa last year, where it just kept raining and we never got a race.

Now we need it to stop raining a little bit and it will still be interesting to watch.
