    While the aftermath of the Perez and Sainz collision was still being poured over, Charles Leclerc was giving his post-qualifying interview to the delight of the watching crowds.

    "It is very special. I am so incredibly happy," said Leclerc.

    "It has been a very smooth weekend until now. I knew the pace was in the car and I just had to do the job, it went perfect.

    "The last lap before the red flag was really really good. It was really on the limit. The rear was loose but it was a good lap. I think I was 0.4secs up before the red flag came. And it is great to have Carlos with me on the front row."

    Charles Leclerc secured a third consecutive pole position - and fifth of the season - for his home grand prix in Monaco after a dominate display throughout qualifying.

    Leclerc ended the day 0.225 seconds clear of Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz and was on an even quicker lap before the session was cut short due to Sainz and Sergio Perez's crash.
