  1. Congratulations Tyronepublished at 19:31 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Kerry, Mayo.

That's some pretty stiff competition to have beaten on your way to the All-Ireland title.

You can read John Haughey's match report of the Red Hands' final triumph here.

They did it in style too, surging past Mayo with poise and purpose to lift Sam Maguire for the first time since 2008 and bring him back to Ulster after a nine year absence.

Congratulations to the Red Hands. In a year that threw up so many obstacles, they are champions of Ireland once more.

Thanks for joining us, and enjoy the rest of your night!

Words really can't express how I'm feeling. The work those boys put into it during the year and they are getting their just rewards. They put in a huge shift. Things didn't always go well for them, they faced uphill battles at times but they dug deep, persevered and got their reward at the end. I'm very proud of them, they have done everything we have asked of them and more, and that is what it takes nowadays. We had te rub of the green when Mayo missed a penalty, that was a big turning point in the game but you take those things as they come to you and thankfully we pushed on from there. It's all about the players today.

  5. 'You are true champions'published at 19:10 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Quote Message

To my fellow players: What can I say? It has been my privilege to train with you boys all year. You have risen to every challenge put in front of you, you have done everything that was asked of you from day dot and you have done it with humour, generosity and spirit. Because of this, you honour yourselves, your families, your clubs, your county and the GAA. You are true champions.

Padraig Hamsey, All-Ireland winning Tyrone captain

  6. 'No-one provides more inspiration than you'published at 19:05 British Summer Time 11 September 2021

    Tyrone win the All-Ireland final

Despondent Mayo players remain on the pitch and watch on as Padraig Hampsey delivers his speech.

The Tyrone skipper offers his condolences to them and reminds them how highly they are regarded by the rest of the GAA.

"No-one provides more inspiration to the rest of us than the players and supporters of Mayo"

Appropriate words, but nothing that can be said will offer much comfort to those Mayo players and indeed fans tonight. Another final defeat which feels even crueller than most, given they were the ones to topple Dublin.

In truth though, there was nothing cruel about today's result. Tyrone were full value for their win and the players are well deserving of their trip up the Hogan Stand where they are all taking turns to lift Sam.

    Tyrone win the All-Ireland Championship

    Quote Message

It's unbelievable, I can't actually describe it at all. I always wanted to say this to the fans back home and everyone here today - 'Tyrone are the All-Ireland champions'. The passion shown by the fans, we said during the week about needing a cause - we're from Tyrone and that's a big enough cause for us to win an All-Ireland. This is the best day of my life, it really is.

    Tyrone win the All-Ireland final

    Quote Message

We came here against Dublin in 2018. We thought we were in control, we got blown out of the water before half-time. Today we said 'can we stay in control?' we knew if we were going to win we needed to get goals. Everyone always said Tyrone can't get goals but we did today and it won us the game.

Everybody says it but when you finally get here it's very very hard to put into words. A lot of years and a lot of work from unbelievable legends of Tyrone football. These men came along this year and it's just been one mission. It has been unbelievable.

They're the best team in Ireland and there is total euphoria out there on the pitch. This is what all the training is for, this is what you imagine as a kid. These players are the new Tyrone heroes. Hill 16 is alive with the red and white, and you cannot deny them. They dominated, their gameplan was absolutely nailed match after match.

Tyrone, hit so hard by Covid-19 in August, are All-Ireland champions for a fourth time!

Red Hands rejoice in Croker, and I reckon there might be a few rejoicing back in their own county as well.

A first win since 2008, thoroughly deserved in a beautifully composed display against Mayo, for whom the agonising wait continues.

A stunning achievement from Logan and Dooher.

Tyrone now winning the breaking balls as Mayo begin to snatch at it.

They're three minutes away from a fourth All-Ireland title and Mayo are the same amount away from an 11th All-Ireland finals defeat.

This one is going to be so tough to take for them having come through Dublin. But let's not take anything away from Tyrone, who have been disciplined, clinical and totally relentless.

Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan are about to win the All-Ireland final in their first season at the helm. An outstanding achievement.

Ah now. That's a bitter way for this one to end and totally unnecessary.

It's frustration, that's what it is as Matthew Ruane is sent off for getting into a scrap with Conn Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick's shirt is ripped and he's yellow carded, but Ruane is deemed the aggressor-in-chief and is shown red.

Hello Sam Maguire - fancy a wee trip up north? Conor McKenna has a greyhound called cappuccino, and he'd have beaten it in a foot race to win that ball for Tyrone's second goal. Cooler than ice-cream he spots Darren McCurry to palm home. Tyrone in control.
