That's a ludicrous take from Peter Harte to claim an offensive mark and pop over a score, extending the lead to four.

At this stage of the game that's a gut punch to Mayo.

    WHAT A MOMENT.

IS THAT THE GOAL THAT SENDS SAM TO TYRONE?

Darren McCurry palms in the back of the net having been teed up brilliantly by Conor McKenna, who in turn collected it after a brilliant aerial win by Conn Kilpatrick.

Stephen Coen shows some lion heart to make that happen, pinching the ball in midfield and driving forward.

He gets caught, but the ball bounces to Kevin McLaughlin who spins and swings over. Two points in it.

This is a huge final quarter coming up and you have to think that the game is set up now for Tyrone's strengths. They can slow the game down, turn the ball over and hit Mayo as they throw caution to the wind.

    Mayo 0-10 Tyrone 1-10

Mayo are holding possession and know they need scores, but someone needs to be brave enough to take it on amid tight spaces.

Darragh Canavan enters the fray as Michael O'Neill make way. Mayo's anxiety is palpable as Bryan Walsh blazes wide from six metres out. What have the Connacht champions got on the bench? Into the final quarter and the end game is now all about Tyrone's game management.

Oh that's a poor miss from Bryan Walsh.

He's on the right and receives it inside, there's a chance of a goal but a point appears a certainty. He snatches at it and gets neither.

Tyrone have extended their half-time lead by a point as we reach the water break, but that doesn't go close to telling the story of that third quarter.

Another momentum shift. We are heading towards the stretch.

Cathal McShane has a free but sends it wide. Can't be missing those.

Mercifully for him Rob Hennelly sends his free wide.

Darragh Canavan is on for Tyrone.

Told you it was high on drama. Mayo miss a penalty from the boot of Ryan O'Donoghue... memories of Oisin McConville in the 2002 final. It's a lonely place for him right now, but Mayo seem to have the wind in their sails as Hennelly pops over a free but hold on, hold on. Cathal McShane is underneath a high ball, Hennelly is flummoxed and clutching thin air as it's a goal to the Red Hands from the flame haired colossus. What an intro.

Another free for Ryan O'Donoghue, that will make him feel a bit better after that penalty miss.

Three in it as we approach the water break.

Conor McKenna takes an attacking mark.

He has been very quiet today, and he really should be scoring this point but he puts it wide.

Tyrone now firmly the men in charge but they aren't nearly far enough ahead to be passing up chances like that.

Cathal McShane - that's how you make an impact.

He is just such a presence in the square. Two minutes onto the pitch and Padraig Hampsey just hangs it right up to him, where he holds off his man and fists it in.

Tyrone go quickly down the other end with Brian Kennedy claiming another commanding take. It goes right to Sludden who really should score, but he slices it wide.

    Here comes Cathal McShane.

He gets the guts of half an hour to make his mark on the final with Mattie Donnelly, somewhat surprisingly, the man to make way.

Rob Hennelly has a free from way beyond the 45 but it's no problem to that man. One point in it.

Let offs don't get any bigger than that for Tyrone.

Agony for Mayo, agony for O'Donoghue who has been one of the best players on show up to this point. He will have more chances to make an impact, but that's a huge miss.

Wide! Ryan O'Donoghue misses, it comes off the right-hand post and out.
