"For class player like Jason Day, that really was a wild shot. I don't know what he was trying to do there."

"For class player like Jason Day, that really was a wild shot. I don't know what he was trying to do there."
Jason Day's approach to the second leaks wildly to the right and flies into a thicket of spectators amid squeals of horror. Peter Alliss chuckles sadistically. Meanwhile, shot gone for German veteran Bernhard Langer at the first.
The final pairing of Jordan Spieth and Smylie Kaufman are now at the first tee-box. These two are great buddies and apparently they're going on holiday together next week. That could be awkward. "Oh, look what I've found in my suitcase. It's...the Green Jacket!" Spieth's first drive finds the fairway, Smylie just about manages to avoid a bunker.

"McIlroy really is in the doldrums. That was a bit pathetic and sad."
McIlroy is not firing on all cylinders here. Another horrible tee shot at the fourth goes right and he's in the woods there. Fearing that his ball may be out of bounds, he's forced to take a second tee shot - mercifully, he manages to land this one on the dancefloor.

"You wonder if it is too much conversation, too much thought, but if it makes Spieth feel confident and happy then it is fine."
Jordan Spieth has flown in his coach, Cameron McCormick, into Augusta after his problems off the tee yesterday.
Spieth (-3)
The leader is just running through his putting stroke. Final tweaks. He will be out shortly.
McIlroy (+2 after 3)
A lucky break for McIlroy, he's made a Horlicks of his tee shot on the 3rd, way right again, but it clatters off a grandstand (or a particularly bouncy spectator, I'm not sure) and carries all the way onto the green. Can that apply a dose of the smelling salts to his fortunes? His eagle putt stays tantalisingly afloat, but he knocks in the subsequent tiddler to get back to +2.
Ollie, I couldn't agree more. 'Ken on the Course' is a British televisual institution. A classic of the genre here sees Ken crawl onto his belly and blow a ball onto the green to demonstrate the speed of the putting surface. Sure enough, it travels all the way past the hole. Wizardry.

Ollie Thomas: If I was at the masters I'd follow #kenonthecourse, external round all week. What a bloke.
Willett (level after 1), Westwood (+2 after 1)
Danny Willett misses a makeable birdie putt on the 1st and has to settle for par. Westwood slides his effort for par past the cup. Not the sort of start that will raise hopes of breaking out the Union Jack bunting...
Scott (+9 after 11)
Adam Scott, the man with a swing smoother than liquidised George Clooney, was many people's pick this week but he's having a nightmare. He three-putted the 11th and has just gone in the drink at the 12th. Splish!
Ken Brown
BBC Sport commentator live on BBC Two at Augusta
"The front nine is going to be key. You have got to turn at one under because the back nine will offer you chances for birdies."
He's in the bunker at 2. Not good, not good at all...
Willett (level), Westwood (+1)
The all-England pairing of Danny Willett and Lee Westwood, they couldn't win it could they?
Willett, who became a father last week, has been a professional for eight years and has a best finish of sixth in a major - last year's Open. Make no mistake, his career has lifted off in the last year though and how many people do you hear banging on about the importance of momentum in sport? His time?
Westwood's trials and tribulations in majors are well documented. Too many times his putts have gone astray down the stretch and it's nearly two years since he won anywhere. He was accurate on day three though, hitting over 80% of greens in regulation so if he can keep that going then who knows?
Donaldson (+7 after 7)
Wales's Jamie Donaldson is experiencing more ups and downs today than a rollercoaster addict. Birdies at 1 and 2 took him to +3 and the brink of contention. But he's followed that with double bogey-bogey-bogey at 5, 6 and 7. Just when you think you've tamed Augusta, she bites back.
McIlroy (+3 after 1)
Zinger's on great form in the BBC Sport studio. He's wearing a suit and sneakers, like a 90s Britpop frontman. Not a good start for McIlroy, long par putt at the first and he leaves it short.
Paul Azinger
1993 PGA Championship winner on BBC TV
"There is no one up there that would surprise me if they made a run. Kaufman will experience something new, the way he feels he will never have felt before.
"Danny Willett has a chance, Lee Westwood has an opportunity. He has to be ready like Faldo was."
McIlroy (+2)
The driver is typically a friend of Rory McIlroy, such is his power. Those weights sessions we see on his Instagram page have paid off for sure but on Saturday his edge off the tee was lost.
The four-time major winner hit only 50% of fairways. His putting deteriorated too on day three, dropping to an average of 1.89 putts on the greens.
Remember, there's a lot on the line - a career Grand Slam no less - so you can perhaps understand why Rory is tightening up.
Ken Brown
BBC Sport commentator live on BBC Two at Augusta
"McIlroy made one or two mental errors and had no luck on the green at all. It is critical for him to get off to a good start on number one.
"He needs a flawless round if he is going to challenge."
