Grace, Watson and Poulter. Sounds like a 1960s LA-based folk band. In fact, it is our next three-ball. And what a stellar line-up it is.

Two-time Masters winner Bubba is joined by Ryder Cup hero Ian Poulter and always-worth-an-each-way-bet fave Branden Grace.

  2. Spieth takes outright leadpublished at 17:45

    Spieth (-4 after 10)

Ah. Paul Casey's cheeky grin didn't last for long. Just like his early slice of the Masters pie. Jordan Spieth swipes the outright lead back from his playing partner's grasp, drilling in a five-foot uphill putt to nab birdie numero quatro.

  3. Casey is co-leaderpublished at 17:43

    Casey (-3 after 10)

Get in the hole! No messing about from England's Paul Casey, who slides in from 15 feet to move alongside Jordan Spieth at the top of the leaderboard. He's grinning like a Cheshire Cat...

  4. Johnson makes birdie...published at 17:41 British Summer Time 7 April 2016

Here is a man capable of going on a tear and after a sluggish start he drops a 26ft putt for birdie on nine. Two under DJ, now for Amen Corner.

I love the Masters because.. Me and my housemate are meant to be revising for our 10min presentation on psychology tomorrow. Instead creating our own 18hole crazy golf course round our house.

"Discussing it with Jordan Spieth last week, his biggest worry is having to hand back his Green Jacket if he doesn’t win this week. That is his prime motivation to defend title and he is off to a great start."

    Fowler (+1 after 11), Spieth (-3 after 10)

Rickie Fowler knocks in a tiddler for par on 11, still one over, still wearing that damn awful outfit. I'm most definitely in the 'what-is-he-thinking' camp.

Back to Spieth...standing over his approach shot on 10...nailed it. Sweet as an almond nut. Birdie chance to go two clear...

Cheers Stephan. Matt Fitzpatrick, Danny Willett and myself will let that earlier dig at Yorkshire slide (see 16:12 entry).

Anyway...what's going on? The British Brigade is chugging along smoother than HMS Victory, while Jordan Spieth is being, well, Jordan Spieth.

I've arrived just in time to tell you all about Smylie Kaufman, who has pegged up on the first. Erm...

Right, I'm off for a little while. I'll return in high-top trainers, elastic-bottomed trousers and a flat cap. Here's Jonathan Jurejko.

When I was talking about the good start made by the Britons, I neglected to mention Wales' Jamie Donaldson. The Ryder Cup winner has birdied the fifth to join the pack at two under. There's four men one behind leader Jordan Spieth.

  12. Amen damage for Dubuisson...published at 17:27

Victor Dubuisson felt the full wrath of Amen Corner, entering it at one under and leaving one over.

The Frenchman and his impressive facial hair are now on 14.

Meanwhile on 13, Bernd Wiesberger lands one six inches from the pin but a tonne of backspin leaves him around 40ft for birdie.

You can just see that the wind is starting to pick up. It rustles the mint green shirt of Jordan Spieth as he lines up a right-to-left for birdie at the ninth. Chance for four under, but he bends his knees as it goes past the front of the hole.

I tell you what, the Britons have started well at Augusta, haven't they? Casey and Fitzpatrick at two under, Westwood and Rose at one under. Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke has parred the opening two.

  17. Fitzpatrick birdies one and twopublished at 17:19

Fresh-faced Yorkshireman Matt Fitzpatrick has lost his crown. That's his youngest-looking-lad-in-the-locker crown which, of course, has now been claimed by Paul Chaplet.

But there's nowt, as 21-year-old Fitzpatrick would probably say, juvenile about any of these two lads' golf.

Fitzy birdies the first on his second Masters appearance. And then the second!

    Yorrrrk-shire! Yorrrk-shire!! Chants absolutely no-one at Augusta.

It really is stunning out there. Blue sky, the odd fluffy cloud, the wind just about wafting the trees. I've heard rumours of strong gusts later, mind. As for what's underfoot, they could write a book about the Masters called 50 Shades of Green. As expected, bogey for Fowler at 10, but Johnson saves par. One over and one under respectively.
