    Rose +1 (8)

Justin Rose bogeyed the eighth yesterday, but there is no such Postage Stamp problem this afternoon.

He's down in two for a birdie that sends him one under for the final round. One more needed to go level for the tournament.

As Zach Johnson gets up and down to make par at the first, the showman that is Miguel Angel Jimenez sees a ball break right and will just have to take a tap-in par.

He is at even par, a top-10 place is currently at two under.

    McIlroy -1 (3)

Thwack. Driver from McIlroy at the third - but where's that one gone? He has one of those token neck-bending glares into the distance that us amateurs know will yield no sight of the mislaid tee shot.

Luckily for Rory a host of stewards are on hand to pick his out, and it's a decent lie once again despite finding the rough.

The 27-year-old finds the green from there but can't convert for birdie from seven or eight feet out. Par.

  4. Eaglepublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Jones +4 (13)

Bogey, bogey, bogey...eagle for Matt Jones.

And at the par-four 13th, too. The Australian guides that one up off the fairway and it drops nicely into the cup. Something to smile about.

  5. Champion tees offpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Z Johnson -1

Zach Johnson was pretty cut up when returning his trophy. We know that he was offering it around as a drinking contraption while rooming with the likes of Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and others.

Johnson has put up a stiff fight to win it back but as he tees off on one, he's too far back at one under. An awful four-over 75 yesterday has done for the American. He finds the fairway though.

Still, last year was terrific. He drained a big putt at the last to enter a play-off and saw off Marc Leishman and Louis Oosthuizen.

  6. Willett off to play baseballpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Willett +7 (18)

    Gerald Scott
    BBC Sport Online

Masters champion Danny Willett signed off in style from a disappointing week at Royal Troon with birdies at two of his last three holes to sign for a level-par 71 - seven over for the Championship.

He then revealed that that his next assignment, prior to heading to New Jersey for the US PGA, which starts in just 11 days' time, will be in a baseball stadium, as celebrity pitcher at the New York Yankees' next home game.

"It's 23 metres or so," he said. "And I've been practising. I've been told you're better off throwing it long than short, or you get booed."

  7. Birdiepublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    McIlroy -1 (2)

Rory McIlroy finds himself in the rough again at the second, but a superb approach lands to the top right of the green and trickles down to within touching distance of the pin.

It should be birdie, but the world number four did miss a couple of similar putts early on yesterday...

No problem at the second though, straight into the cup to go one under.

    Shout out to Greg Chalmers.

The 42-year-old is a PGA Tour winner but what does that mean on a links course.

He carded a round of 14 over today. That included double bogey on four occasions and an eight on the par-four 11th. An eight.

Anyone else like seeing some of these super professionals struggle. It makes me feel better about the horrendous rounds I put together each time.

  9. Birdie!published at 13:15 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Woodland -1 (1)

Gary Woodland is one of America's boomers. A man who can tonk it off the tee. On the first he's going to draw one in from the first cut at this flag. Huge whoops from the galleries around the green as he leaved a few feet for birdie. He taps it in.

The likes of Lee Westwood, Jordan Spieth and Andy Sullivan are showing us that three or four under is achievable by the halfway point.

    Comprehensive job by Simon here.

The good weather on the first day, the wind and rain, the difficult 11th Railway hole, Rory McIlroy's struggles with a 'Taxi for McIlroy' and then Henrik Stenson taking the lead.

    We love it.

  13. Par for Rorypublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    McIlroy E (1)

Rory McIlroy pitches out of the short rough. He has the line, but there's too much pace on that and it fizzes narrowly past the flag before settling on the bank behind the green. Fine margins.

Rory crouches, dusts off his putter and then pushes one towards the pin. He'll tap in for par.

  14. Birdiepublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Sullivan -2 (4), Day E (4)

A nice birdie for Andy Sullivan as he confidently strokes home from 10ft on four. Jason Day, his playing partner cannot do the same, missing a very similar putt.

  15. McIlroy up and runningpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    McIlroy (E)

World number four Rory McIlroy is up and running on the final day. The Northern Irishman takes to the tee box looking for a better start than yesterday, when he bogeyed the first.

He doesn't quite find the fairway, dragging it slightly left in the south Ayrshire breeze.

  16. Bunker, bogeypublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Rose +2 (5)

Justin Rose skews his tee shot to the right-hand side of the green and watches the ball nestle into the sand.

The Englishman scrambles out of the bunker but his attempt to save par goes begging, instead it's a dropped shot - his first of the day.

    Westwood +1 (10), Sullivan -1 (3)

    Lee westwoodImage source, PA

Lee Westwood has given one back. He danced with the rough twice on the 10th and then needed two putts. To be honest, he was in the thick stuff so it could have been worse.

Andy Sullivan is clearly fully pumped and game for causing some carnage out there. He lands his second to the fourth hole some 10ft from the flag and that ladies and gents leaves a birdie putt. Go on Sully, put it in there.

    I'll update you shortly.

    Montgomerie +17 (18)

Colin Montgomerie finished at 17 over for the tournament, but the Scot hopes this will not be his final Open Championship.

"I've always enjoyed the whole theatre of the thing," said Monty. "I'd love to think this won't be my last Open but it might be."

The 53-year-old also knows it may well be the last time he plays Open golf at his beloved Troon.

"You've got to be realistic and think that it might well be the last time I'm here at an Open," he said.

See what else Monty had to say here.

  20. Willett level on final daypublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 17 July 2016

    Willett +7 (18)

There'll be no Claret Jug to go with his Green Jacket for Danny Willett this year.

The Masters champion is back in the clubhouse in level par today, a smattering of birdies and bogeys cancelling each other out during his final round at Troon.

He finishes on seven over for the tournament.
