  1. Farewellpublished at 02:10 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

This is where we leave you. Thanks from all the live text team for following these past four days.

Not your typical US Open. Not your expected winner. But a cracking tournament nonetheless. Well played Brooks Koepka.

The Masters was a stormer too this year. Gauntlet thrown down. Can The Open respond in kind at Birkdale next month?

We'll see you then. Take care for now. Bye.

  2. Birkdale calling...published at 02:07 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

  3. A-list (well, kind of)published at 02:05 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Brooks needs some shades from all those flash lights.

You'd have to say, he's not yet at that level of sportsman where you'd instantly recognise him walking into your local kebab house. A win at The Open though and he'd be kicked on a bit in terms of social standing. Speaking of which...

  5. Sorry dad...published at 02:00 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Brooks Koepka has told the media he did not get his dad a Father's Day card. This likely makes up for it. Maybe buy him some socks or a deodorant set from the $2m kitty.

  8. 'Koepka was phenomenal'published at 01:53 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Fleetwood finishes fourth

Tommy Fleetwood should be proud of his fourth-placed finish on 11 under. He shot a level-par round of 72 to finish and, as the man himself acknowledged, he needed something otherworldly to stay with playing partner Brooks Koepka.

Fleetwood, speaking to Sky Sports, said:"You never know how you're going to react being up there in the final round - you've got to deal with that and it's all new for me.

"I felt really comfortable yesterday - I didn't play how I wanted to today, it was fine still but you can't do too much about [how Koepka played], can you?

"He was brilliant, the shots he hit down the stretch, you can't describe how hard some of them are.

"He was phenomenal - I would've like to have played like that. I played well enough to do it yesterday but didn't quite have it today.

"It was windy and he shot five under, fair play."

  9. A US win forged in Europepublished at 01:47 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

US Open champion Brooks Koepka, speaking to Sky Sports: "I was way more confident this week than I've ever been.

"I was striking it really well and putting the ball right in the fairway and then I was putting so well.

"A couple of years ago I was one of four guys crammed in a mini car, with four golf bags, on the European Challenge Tour and now I'm the US Open champion.

"It really helped in the wind today, having cut my teeth over there in Europe and having played in different conditions.

"I've not won as much as I'd like to on the PGA Tour but this'll do.

"Playing in the Ryder Cup also helped tremendously - it teaches you how to stay in the moment and I did an unbelievable job of that this week."

  10. Postpublished at 01:41 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Ah yes, Koepka finally raises the trophy with a broad grin to the applause of the gallery.

    That's better.

  11. 'Unbelievable'published at 01:40 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka wins the US Open

"What I've done this week is amazing. To be in the same category as some of the guys on this trophy is unbelievable. This is truly special, it really is."

Koepka joins names like Woods, Nicklaus, Player, Hogan, McIlroy, etc...

  12. 'Erin Hills suited me'published at 01:37 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka wins the US Open

The champion speaks to Fox Sports: "It's unbelievable. I don't know what to say right now but it's pretty cool. To do it where I played the US amateurs is special. It's a real team effort. Everybody putt in a lot of work. It's a special moment.

"It's awesome to get the calls and texts I got last night. It was special for people to give me advice and saying to stick to what I've done. That's what I did and it was great.

"It was bombs away, you could hit it far and the fairways were generous enough. That was a big plus for me. I'm a big ball striker. On some of these par fives I don't even need to hit driver to get there and I putted brilliantly this week too."

A touching tweet from Koepka Snr who also gives a nod to winning caddie Ricky Elliot.

If Elliot is on 10% he's picked up around $200,000 or over £150,000 this week.

  14. Postpublished at 01:35 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Apparently that slightly weird trophy presentation was for the benefit of the host broadcaster.

Hopefully we might have a better one to come where Brooks Koepka might be able to express himself a bit more in front of the fans.

  15. Brooks gets a gold medalpublished at 01:31 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka (-16)

A tournament official spells it out: "Since 1895, the USGA has awarded its champion a solid gold medal. It's our honour to present you with the Jack Nicklaus medal."

  16. Postpublished at 01:28 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Brooks Koepka has just been handed the trophy.

    Low-key doesn't even cut it.

A stilted speech from USGA President Diana M. Murphy before she hands him the cup.

Koepka gives it a sheepish raise before he's forced to deliver some more platitudes.

The poor guy just looks like he wants to shoot off and celebrate in style instead of this slightly bizarre presentation.

  17. Postpublished at 01:22 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

This is the seventh major in a row that has been claimed by a first-time champion.

Brooks Koepka joins Sergio Garcia, Jimmy Walker, Henrik Stenson, Dustin Johnson, Danny Willett and Jason Day.

Will the streak extend to eight at The Open next month? Or can an experienced hand break it?

  18. Winning combinationpublished at 01:20 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka (-16)

Good driving and solid approach work got the job done...

    KoepkaImage source, .

Koepka found 62 greens from 72 all week and 47 fairways from 56.

  19. Expensive misses...published at 01:13 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Harman (-12) Thomas (-8)

Back on the 18th we are just finishing up the places. Brian Harman is hitting his fourth into this par five, it's a short chip and he botches it. He looks a bit done in and will have 40ft for par.

Justin Thomas has a birdie look from 10ft.

Harman misses his putt and that means Hideki Matsuyama is making hundreds of thousands of dollars by sitting in the clubhouse.

Thomas for birdie and nine under...sums up his day... wide. Harman for bogey... job done.
