Koepka had just one PGA Tour win to his name prior to this week - the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

US Open champion has a much better ring to it.

  2. Nothing to say sorry for...published at 01:07 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

BBC Radio 5 live at Erin Hills

Brooks looked almost apologetic about winning. His girlfriend looks more excited right now. I think his emotion is now coming and it's kind of delayed. Now he's thinking 'wow, I actually won this thing'.

  3. KOEPKA WINS THE US OPENpublished at 01:07 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

Oddly muted celebration from Brooks Koepka on the green, almost apologetic as Tommy Fleetwood goes over to be the first man to congratulate the new champion.

The burly 27-year-old American strides off the green to the cheers of the home crowd and is greeted by his girlfriend.

He climbs onto a golf buggy and the gravity of what he's achieved finally hits him.

He takes off his cap and buries his face in it. Well done that man. Sublime golf today to cap a stellar week.

    Koepka -16 (67)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Erin Hills

The shortest of putts to complete a first major victory. he has done it in brilliant style. At 16 under, he ties the record with Rory McIlroy in terms of par at the US Open. What a fabulous final round. Birdies on the first two holes and then grabbing the trophy with three birdies in a row on 14, 15 and 16.

  5. KOEPKA WINS THE 2017 US OPENpublished at 01:04 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka -16 (67)

Koepka approaches his par putt, just two feet or so to navigate.

And he does in typical composed fashion to claim his first major.

He also ends on 16 under, equalling Rory McIlroy's record for the lowest winning score in relation to par in US Open history.

    Fleetwood (-11)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Erin Hills

I'm sure we will see Tommy Fleetwood in the Ryder Cup team. He has conducted himself brilliantly all week. You can only be impressed with him this week.

    Fleetwood -11 (72)

Here's Fleetwood with his birdie effort on the last. It looks good but slides past. A nervy distance past actually.

Tough par putt to finish. Knock it in fella.

He does. Fourth place outright. Big week for the 26-year-old from Southport.

He was wonderful yesterday and solid today with a level-par 72. He needed golf from the gods to beat Koepka though.

    Koepka (-16 after 17)

So 41ft for birdie...here goes Koepka.

It's a wonderful read, on line and well-paced but just short. He will tap in for a par that will secure him the US Open title.

    Koepka (-16 after 17)

Brooks Koepka will pick up around $2.1m for winning. Even with the dire exchange rate that's about £1.6m.

As we told you earlier, he's a Manchester United fan. He could invest that bounty in around eight houses in the Manchester area. Go on Brooks, spend it wisely son.

    Koepka (-16 after 17)

Koepka's feet are below his ball and he opts to just bunt it forward and place it on the green.

A very long birdie putt to come but he shouldn't drop a shot here.

  11. The $500,000 holepublished at 00:57 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Harman (-13 after 17)

A heads up for Brian Harman, who finds rough off the tee on 18. The difference between finishing third and second is about $500,000. That's about £400,000. No pressure. Harman has a one-shot cushion from Hideki Matsuyama.

    Winner: $2.16 millionRunner-up: $1.3 million

    3rd: $804,023
4th: $563,642
5th: $469,460

    Fleetwood (-11 after 17)

Fleetwood has hacked out of the rough stuff out right and has 241 yards to go with his third shot.

He goes right as well but sends it on the green and gives himself an outside chance of birdie.

Hmm, a very outside chance as the ball drifts out back.

  13. Postpublished at 00:53 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka (-16 after 17)

Koepka has 272 yards to go. It starts off right and doesn't come quite far enough back.

He might have put the handbrake on there, no reason to go too hard.

Hang on, the ball keeps on trundling down towards the bunker - it's only the ridge of rough that has stopped it dropping in the sand.

That'll be a tough stance for the champion-elect. He's coped with everything else this week, mind.

  14. Closing birdie!published at 00:53 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Fowler (-10) Kim (-6)

    Rickie FowlerImage source, EPA

Rickie Fowler, promises so much, delivers a lot but once again does not take the big reward. His eagle putt on the last leaves about 10ft for birdie and it's in. You have to admire that kind of grind as he kept at it despite seeing another major slide away.

He will win one one day you'd have to think. That said, Lee Westwood was probably thinking that about his chances for several years.

Kim Si-woo is home at six under. Tied for 13th.

    Fleetwood (-11 after 17), Koepka (-16 after 17)

    Brooks KoepkaImage source, EPA

Are you allowed to hit a three wood this far?

Koepka absolutely smears his tee shot at the last, just shy of 380 yards. Stunning power but he's shown plenty of touch here today too.

Fleetwood thwacks his effort waaaay right. No spectators out there so a marshall locates it.

On a down slope in thick rough. Oh dear.

  16. Eagle look...published at 00:44 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Fowler (-9 after 17)

    Chris Latchem
BBC Radio 5 live commentator at Erin Hills

Rickie Fowler's second on 18, he gives it a pump and wants it to bite. It skips up to the green and he will get an eagle putt which could move him to 11 under.

  17. Postpublished at 00:43 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Koepka (-16 after 17)

Nails. No dramas as Koepka makes par at 17.

A birdie (or better) at the last and we'll see a new lowest winning score in relation to par at the US Open.

  18. Harman's week of weeks...published at 00:42 British Summer Time 19 June 2017

    Jay Townsend
BBC Radio 5 live at Erin Hills

I don't think we will see Brian Harman regularly on major championship leaderborads. Major championships are built around powerful, big hitting players. Those guys tend to perform the best in majors. Brooks Koepka is textbook.

But Harman will be there week in week out on the PGA Tour and he will play well. I think he has taken advantage of a good week for him this week at a major.
