Another cracking drive from Tiger Woods at the 10th. He's striking the ball sweetly. He celebrates with a quick snack on the long walk to meet his ball - looked like a sandwich?

The big-hitting Marc Leishman pops one some 315 yards, and Tommy Fleetwood isn't far behind.

England's Tyrrell Hatton had a sobering experience on his Masters debut last year, missing the cut after an opening 80 and a second-round 78.

It sparked a rotten run of form for the Englishman, who also went on to miss the cut at the US Open and The Open.

But he recovered to finish the year with back-to-back victories at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and Italian Open.

The 26-year-old from High Wycombe has produced some good performances this year and will be hoping that last year's struggles won't flash through his mind on the first tee. That's where he is stood right now...

Marc Leishman is playing some sturdy golf. The Australian, kitted out in green and blue hoops, creeps towards another par with a well-weighted approach.

Tiger starts his birdie putt well right of the ninth hole. It begins to whip back left, but slightly too late and can't find the target. He'll tuck it away for par.

Tommy Fleetwood also has a shot at birdie, but he pulls it short and flaps his hand in frustration. Par for the Southport man.

Hang about, we've lost Marc Leishman in the woods. That's smart from the leader, though. He can't quite muster enough energy to force it on to the green but he's in a good spot having been frolicking among the trees moments earlier.

Anything you can do... Tommy Fleetwood is also nestled on the bark but floats his approach up alongside the flag, about 10 feet or so to the right.

Tiger Woods is up there too, although he opted not to take the scenic route like his partners.

Tony Finau is lucky to be playing. He's the fella who dislocated his ankle celebrating a hole-in-one in yesterday's par three contest - then popped it back in himself.

I'd have been out for the season. Or at least on the sofa following the RICE principle - rest, ice, compression and elevation - with my trusty bag of frozen peas.

Finau? He's out on the course. The American bogeyed the first and it's not been a great start for his group...

    H Stenson -2, B Watson +1, J Day +4 (7)

Welcome Henrik Stenson to the mix. The Swede has quietly crept into contention with birdies at the fourth and seventh to take him within one stroke of leader Marc Leishman.

The 2016 Open champion is out alongside Bubba Watson and Jason Day. Day is having a nightmare, he's four over after three successive bogeys.

  9. Birdie for Fleetwoodpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 5 April 2018

    M Leishman -3, T Fleetwood E, T Woods +1 (8)

Brilliant from Tommy Fleetwood. He nearly holed out for eagle from 50 yards there, nonchalantly flopping an approach just wide of the pin. The Englishman takes a welcome birdie. He's back to level par.

Tiger is taking his time over this one, doing laps of his ball and looking for a way into the eighth flag. Stand up, sit down, turnaround, it's like the hokey cokey from the American. Woods pokes it left, catching the run of the green and trickling hole-wards but stopping short. That's par.

Almost another birdie for Marc Leishman, too. The leader flirts with the cup but settles for par.

You'll never guess what Hideki Matsuyama did on the ninth? Yep, he got a par. That's nine pars on the front nine for the Japanese player. Rock solid.

England's Paul Casey goes into the turn without any further damage following that sticky patch in the middle.

Vijay Singh isn't showing any signs of disappearing down the leaderboard. In fact, he's going back up! The 2000 Masters champion is back into outright second after birdieing the 11th.

Vijay, now aged 55, rediscovered that winning feeling last month, earning his first victory on the PGA senior tour last month.

That was his first tournament win in 10 years. Ten years!

Marc Leishman sits 279 yards from the pin, to the left of the fairway with the patrons of Augusta breathing down his neck. The 34-year-old chops it up to the edge of the green.

Tiger Woods has a 13-yard head start on the leader. Did he top that!? It didn't sound great, but skittles up towards the trees on the left of the green and comes to a halt nearly 40 yards from home.

Marc Leishman nails a drive that skips just into the longer stuff, and Tommy Fleetwood follows him down.

But the biggest cheer at the par-five eighth is for, guess who, Tiger Woods. The 42-year-old swings like a sandpapered cricket ball and hammers his tee shot into the heart of the fairway. Lush.

    M Leishman -3, T Woods +1, T Fleetwood +1 (7)

It's the Birdie Song for Marc Leishman, that's number three for the Masters-leading Australian. He's in scintillating form, tucking in from a few feet to extend his leads to two shots over Vijay Singh and Satoshi Kodaira.

Ahhh, that's agonisingly left of the pocket from Tommy Fleetwood. It just didn't turn, and he'll have to settle for par.

Tiger Woods completes the trio, also making par to stay at one over.

Paul Casey stops the rot on the par-five 8th, clawing a shot back with a birdie. As does his playing partner Patton Kizzire.

Can Hideki Matsuyama do the same and finally go into the red? This is a great chance for the Japanese world number six. An eight-foot birdie putt, he starts it left... it stays left. Matsuyama can't believe it.

  19. Ellis propping up the fieldpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 5 April 2018

    John Murray
    BBC Radio 5 live

On a cloudless morning I walked the first seven holes with the Amateur champion, 22-year-old Harry Ellis from Southampton. It was a nervous start to his Masters debut as he slipped to six over after his first six holes but he'll have felt a good deal better after he rolled in a par putt from 25 feet from the back of the seventh green.

Ellis has since had a nightmare triple bogey seven on the 10th to prop up the field on eight over as he heads to Amen Corner.

On the way back in, I stopped off to see Sandy Lyle tee off at the first on the 30th anniversary of his Masters victory. It was lovely to see Lyle with some calming words for another amateur on his Masters debut; a rather tense looking Doug Ghim, who qualified as the runner-up in last year's US Amatuer Championship.

He and the third member of the group Si Woo Kim all followed Lyle in finding the middle of the fairway with their drives.

Who'd have thought Doc Redman would be setting the early pace in this group? He's the Method Man. Method Man and Redman (feat Toni Braxton)? One for the 1990s hip hops fans...

Anyway... the US Amateur champion is one under through five, staying ahead of defending champion Sergio Garcia and Justin Thomas.

Garcia picked up back-to-back bogeys on the fourth and fifth, while world number two Thomas also slips back after bogeying the fourth.
