Shane Lowry leads by four shots going into today's final round, but 20 years ago at The Open in Carnoustie Paul Lawrie came from 10 shots back to win.

So we're looking for your greatest golfing come back, or blow up.

Maybe you had a quadruple bogey on the first hole like Rory but came back to win or maybe you needed to birdie the last and won by chipping in from the bunker?

Or were you four up with five to play, only to lose four balls down the stretch?

Let us know your golfing successes and disasters, and we really want to see your pictures. #bbcgolf

  6. Lowry's Love Island remedypublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Alex Bysouth
    BBC Sport at Royal Portrush

Shane Lowry said he watched Love Island on Friday night as a way of chilling out after his round - it obviously worked, he went on to shoot that remarkable 63 on Saturday.

Now the Irishman is hoping that by the end of today he will able to "couple up" with the Claret Jug. Urgh, sorry...

If he does, there'll be no time catch Sunday's show as judging by the reception he got from fans hanging around to greet him by the mixed zone yesterday there'll be a long, long queue of people waiting to buy him a pint of the black stuff.

It tastes better in Ireland, they say. It'll taste amazing sipped from the Jug...

    Turner +4 (68)

A nice moment for qualifier Ashton Turner - the 23-year-old from Lincolnshire was first out at 7:32AM when most of us were still tucked up, but he's shot a 68 and finished with a birdie at the 18th to finish on +4

  10. Party time in Portrushpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Alex Bysouth
    BBC Sport at Royal Portrush

The streets outside the iconic Harbour Bar in Portrush were bustling last night with punters who had spilled out of the course after soaking up the incredible atmosphere that accompanied Shane Lowry around the Dunluce Links on Saturday.

On the other side of the harbour they were treated to live music as a real party atmosphere took over the town.

Lowry said he was able to come into this championships under the radar with the focus on Northern Irish trio Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell.

But talking to fans from both the north and south of the island they all said the same thing - it's great to see an Irishman at the top of the leaderboard, and fans from Dublin to Donegal will be rooting for him today.

He's certainly on the radar now.

  18. An unwanted reminder?published at 12:05 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Alex Bysouth
    BBC Sport at Royal Portrush

The final day of the Open Championship. A leader four strokes clear. The Claret Jug in the bag.

The fans at Royal Portrush will be hoping this closing round is merely a winner's parade for Irishman Shane Lowry, but they'd do well to remember what happened on the final day of The Open 20 years ago.

Yes, 1999 the infamous Jean van de Velde moment - blowing a three-shot lead on the final hole as Paul Lawrie came from 10 shots back on Sunday to eventually win in a play-off.

And Lowry will be trying to banish memories his own tumble from a four-stroke advantage at the top of the leaderboard on the final day of the US Open three years ago.

Given the expected weather conditions, could we see a surprise winner come through the field? Hopefully everyone keeps their shoes and socks on...

It was at the US Open three years ago that Shane Lowry found himself in a similar position.

He was four shots clear of the field after 54 holes but a nightmare final round of 76 saw him slip to second as Dustin Johnson claimed victory.

So will that experience strengthen him? Or will it weigh heavy on his mind?

  20. Shane's scintillating displaypublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

If you just switched on the telly or the radio last night and listened to the roar as Shane Lowry putted on the 18th, you'd be forgiven for thinking he'd just won The Open.

The Irishman's ridiculously sumptuous third round performance received the sort of adulation the winner of a major championship usually receives - it was that good.

But Lowry has one more round to navigate if he is to receive the winner's applause for real. He's in the ideal position, and has a healthy advantage, but he more than anyone knows it is far too early to think he's got one hand on the Claret Jug just yet...
