Imagine having to write about all the drama today and over the last few days....

I'd imagine our man at Gleaneagles, Peter Scrivener was probably thinking that he was going to have to write a rather different report with about 30 minutes of play remaining.

An occupational hazard basically when something completely unscripted takes place.

But you can read his report the sensational finish and everything else today right here.

US captain Juli Inkster speaking to Sky Sports: "It was great for women's golf. The European crowd has been great to us all week. We had some Scottish weather, we had wind, sunshine, rain, so we had the full effect.

"I think everyone got some kind of point. Hopefully we'll get the ones [players] that are pregnant back and I am looking forward to the 2021 Solheim Cup in Toledo, where I will be watching."

"We got our momentum from the crowd so thank you," Europe captain Catriona Matthew tells the closing ceremony.

"I’d like to thank the American team because it takes two teams to get this amazing spectacle.

"We thought it might come down to the last few games so we wanted that experience.

"Suzanne [Pettersen] showed what a champion she is to steel herself and hole that putt."

The US team still look pretty shell-shocked - I mean this European win was just not on the cards was it.

    Europe win the Solheim Cup

More from Europe vice-captain Laura Davies speaking to Sky Sports:" [Carlota never looked like she was going to get there and did it at the last. Bronte [Law] told me on 13, 'I've got this' and I believed her.

"All the players wanted to win it for Beany [Catriona Matthew]. It’s all worth it isn’t it. I would not have wanted that putt [on 18] I’d have pulled it and missed it for sure"

  14. 'It was looking a bit dodgy'published at 18:01 British Summer Time 15 September 2019

Europe vice-captain Laura Davies speaking to Sky Sports: "Amazing. We were begging for a half point and we couldn’t get one and then all of a sudden Bronte [Law] did what she did.

"And who do you want with an eight feet putt to win the Solheim Cup? It was always close. We never gave up but it was looking a bit dodgy.

"You need great players under pressure in those moments and she [Suzann Pettersen] never lets you down."

Bronte Law speaking to Sky: "Honestly, what just happened is something I will never experience ever again. The best feeling in the world - this is what you play this game for.

"I'm not a selfish person, I do it for others not for myself. The home support has been phenomenal - they are the 13th member of the team.

"To hear them rooting for you, this is why you play this game. It gives you a pep in your step and keeps you going.

"I made mistakes but to hear the crowd cheering, they kept me going and to win this in front of my family is incredible."
