    Georgia Hall’s caddy has just gone whizzing past on a buggy, on his way back to the players quarters. He has a huge grin on his face and is punching the air.

    Georgia is staying down in the heart of the action to help rally the rest of the European troops.

    The grandstand behind the 18th green is full and there are hundreds of fans perched on banks patiently waiting for the next match to go the distance.

    Europe's Carlota Ciganda speaking to Sky Sports: "I’m still a little nervous. There was lots of adrenalin. It was a tough match and I was fighting to compete. I had to adjust my mind after the weather on Saturday and I was very happy to deliver the first point.

    "It means a lot [to lead the team]. I told her [Catriona Matthew] 'whatever you think is the best, I have 100% confidence in you'.

    "I like to play first win my point and support the other girls."

    Such was the strength of the wind against on Friday, everyone was laying up short of the pond on the par-five 16th.

    Not today.

    Georgia Hall pings her second pin high, just off the green, while Lexi Thompson is long.

    Huge cheers of ‘ole, ole, ole’ greet Hall. The home fans sense a point here.

    Meanwhile, word starts to filter round that Ciganda has already won a point and a huge cheer goes up as the news is confirmed on a leaderboard behind the green.

    That delays Thompson. Her chip finally scuds a dozen feet by. The game is almost up.

    Thompson misses the return putt.

    This for the win. Eight feet. No. We go on. But it’s a guaranteed half-point.

    This feels like a critical game and Carlota Ciganda suddenly finds herself in pole position to take it.

    Danielle Kang's duffs her bunker shot and is going to have to play again from the sand hazard.

    That's a decent sand wedge from the American but she can't control it and it skips past the cup by 10 or 12 feet.
