Suzann Petersen speaking to Sky Sports: "It's all just a big blur. It was a good putt. I did not know it was for it.

"I knew it was close. Coming down 18 Beany said it's 'why I picked you'. I was just trying to make some kind of a birdie. In your wildest dreams, especially where I've come from, I never thought I was going to do this again. Its a fantastic win for the team

"I didn't feel much pressure. I knew my team-mates wanted me and that was all that mattered."

Europe captain Catriona Matthew speaking to Sky: "Just unbelievable. Never been a better moment. To come down to the final putt and for Suzann [Pettersen] to get it was just phenomenal.

"We knew experience would win it and for Bronte [Law] and Suzann to pull it out was just incredible. Nothing tops this. This is the best by far."

  4. Pettersen was a wildcard pickpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 15 September 2019

    Europe win the Solheim Cup

Suzann Pettersen was a wildcard pick.

Let me repeat that: Suzann Pettersen was a wildcard pick.

A debatable selection having played just twice - missing the cut both times - between November 2017 and the side being named.

She was also the villain in a controversial incident in the 2015 defeat in Germany but showed all her vast experience after missing out two years ago through injury.

She was never missing that final putt was she. A gentle left-to-right slider - that sparked incredible celebrations - on the 18th.

    Pettersen beats Alex 1UP

Europe regain the Solheim Cup. This has had more drama than a west end production.

Marina Alex had a putt for a half but it slid by to the right.

Up stepped Suzann Pettersen. And a few nail-biting seconds later it was game over.

    Pettersen A/S Alex (17)

Suzann Pettersen's a tad wayward off the tee.

Is she in the thick stuff? No she's OK.

She knocks an iron up the fairway and will have a wedge on. This is going to be a winner-takes-all pitch and putt contest.

    Massive moment?

This is nerve-jangling stuff but Bronte Law guides a 20-footer putt in for birdie on 16 to go ahead. Just look at her celebrate. She looks like she has just won the lottery.
