And that's it from us for round one, folks.

Thanks for staying with us, we'll be back tomorrow evening for round two.

  2. Todd ties first-round lead after five-under 65published at 03:12 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Jason Day has led the first round for seemingly the whole day, but as the opening 18 holes come to a close, it's American Brendon Todd who's up there with a share of the lead after a five-under 65.

The 35-year-old had seven birdies with two bogeys for his round to sit atop the leaderboard.

  3. Casey drops two at the last to finish on two underpublished at 02:59 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Ouch... it's a double-bogey six on the final hole for Paul Casey. That drops him from four under to two under in one fell swoop.

It's still a solid 68 for his opening round, but that will definitely sting.

  4. 'I've been hitting too many bombs'published at 02:53 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

After finishing with a two-under 68, Bryson DeChambeau was immediately asked about that moment when he broke his driver back on the seventh tee.

"I've been hitting too many bombs with it," he said.

His game plan for tomorrow? Why, simply "hitting it as straight and as far as I can", of course.

  5. Rahm cards even-par 70published at 02:43 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Rahm's been hit and miss in his opening round. After pulling his second shot on the 18th, he gets up and down to finish at even-par.

And there's a big sigh after that putt drops. He looks exhausted.

We know how you feel, Jon... kind of.

  6. Postpublished at 02:32 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Good news: Rickie Fowler finishes with a birdie!!!

Bad news: he's on three over.

Adam Scott finishes with a par for a steady 68 - two under, along with Bryson DeChambeau.

Meanwhile, American Brendon Todd has stolen the thunder from his more illustrious compatriots by taking a share of the lead with Jason Day on five under!!

Tied 12th at the Open in 2015 is Todd's best display at a major so far.

  7. Postpublished at 02:27 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Paul Casey with a golden chance on the 16th to take a share of the lead on five under, pulls his putt!!!

What an opportunity - the Englishman stays on four under with about a zillion (11) other players.

  8. Postpublished at 02:22 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Tommy Fleetwood finishes with a bogey which sees him drop to level par for the championship - still only five shots off the lead held by Jason Day.

Now American Brendon Todd, 35, is a little bit closer - on four under with still three to play.

  9. Postpublished at 02:13 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Bubba Watson finishes with a 70 and level par for the championship - fellow big hittin' American Bryson DeChambeau makes par three at the 17th. He stays at two under.

  10. Postpublished at 02:09 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Casey is back to four under - now can he break the wall and make it to five under?

  11. Postpublished at 02:07 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Paul Casey dropped a shot at the 14th but plays a beautifully judged iron to within five feet of the flag. He surely will go back to four under.

  12. Fowler falters againpublished at 02:02 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Rickie Fowler has a golden chance for a birdie at the 16th but rolls his putt past the hole - he taps in then gestures to his caddie in bewilderment.

It's one of those days again for the American who is on three over.

World number seven DeChambeau makes par too but is on a more palatable two under.

  13. Fleetwood finds his touchpublished at 01:58 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Tommy Fleetwood holes a beauty on the 17th - he predicted the break left to perfection. A tonic after that earlier double bogey.

  14. Hadwin weaves some magicpublished at 01:52 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Adam Hadwin of Canada, who we are yet to mention, plays one of the shots of the day - digging the ball out of Monty Don's garden at the bottom of a steep bank and finding the final green within holing distance.

He's currently on three under but drops to two under after failing to make the putt.

  15. Postpublished at 01:47 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Adam Scott plays a brilliant putt from off the 15th green and saves par. He remains on two under.

Bryson DeChambeau makes successive bogeys - he joins Scott on two under.

Over on the 14th, Mickelson finds the water off the tee. The five-time major winner is level par for the championship - although he'll very much be in the plus figures soon.

  16. Fowler and DeChambeau in troublepublished at 01:41 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

You know Rickie Fowler's in trouble when the TV camera doesn't know where his second shot has gone on the 15th - it was a hideous lie. Playing partner Bryson DeChambeau fares little better.

Paul Casey on the par four 13th plays his approach shot a little bit short down the bank to the left of the green.

If he can flop one up on to the green and kill the ball dead then it could work out well for him. Lot of ifs.

  18. Postpublished at 01:28 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Bryson DeChambeau does well to get himself into a position to make par after that wayward tee-shot on the 14th, but his putt falls short.

It's back to three under for the American.

  19. Casey goes to four underpublished at 01:22 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Bryson DeChambeau almost finds the Pacific Ocean with his drive from the 14th tee. The ball is sat right behind a huge tree - he will likely drop a shot here.

Meanwhile, Paul Casey picks up another birdie at the 12th. It's getting interesting for one of England's finest who is now one shot off the lead.

  20. Postpublished at 01:18 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Paul Casey is in a little bit of trouble on the par three 11th but manages to salvage par with a confident putt.

The former world number three looks like a world number three at the moment.
