The testing conditions were expected to see some big-distance winners, but six of the seven races have involved thrilling, head-bobbing finishes.

Mister Whitaker prevailed by a head, following three races earlier that were won by a neck and two half-length verdicts.

And that is a first Festival winner for England striker-turned trainer Mick Channon.

Livelovelaugh is down. Jockey Ruby Walsh on board and that is his first fall since his return from a broken leg. But both rider and horse look alright.

At the front, Testify has joined Rocklander.

Some sad news coming from the course.

Mossback - who fell in the previous race - has had to be put down.

De Potting Shed was a solid fourth in a Grade One outing at Punchestown last season, but fell at the last in his last outing - a defeat by Footpad in the Irish Arkle.

He would be an Irish winner to buck the trend with British-based horses winning 11 out of 13 runnings.

Ted Walsh - who rode four winners at the Festival before turning to training - saddles Any Second Now. He is making his handicap debut and has a puncher's chance.

How’s your day gone? Is it all down to the ‘Getting Out Stakes’? Tuesday concludes with the Close Brothers Novices' Handicap Chase (17:30)

Some of these Irish horses have intriguing names. This one boasts De Plotting Shed and Livelovelaugh. British hopes include the rather sedate-sounding Rather Be.

    National Hunt Chase (16:50 GMT)

Another winner for trainer Willie Mulliins!

And what a finish to earn it. Patrick Mullins and his ride held out against Ms Parfois is a straight slug-out along the home straight.

That was a brutal, gruelling finale to a four-mile slog on soft ground.

    1. Rathvinden (Mr P W Mullins) 9-2

    2 Ms Parfois (Mr W Biddick) 11-2

    3 Sizing Tennessee (Mr B O'Neill) 8-1
