Footpad made that look very easy. A beautiful ride and he made an astonishing recovery after clattering one of the fences early on.
Arkle Chase (14:10 GMT)
A beautifully-weighted ride from Ruby Walsh, who waited, watched and bided his time perfectly to take victory.
The going is taking its toll on front runners...
1 Footpad (R Walsh) 5-6 Fav
2 Brain Power (Nico de Boinville) 14-1
3 Petit Mouchoir (D N Russell) 4-1

Footpad is up to within half a length of leader Petit Mouchoir.
And then powers past!
Saint Calvados is nowhere...
Arkle Chase (14:10 GMT)
It is Saint Calvados who takes on the running at the front. Footpad keeps waiting and watching back in third and ten lengths back.
Has Ruby Walsh got this calculation right? Have the front two gone off too hard.
Petit Mouchoir presses the pedal still further.

I would be amazed if these two at the front could keep up this pace.
Arkle Chase (14:10 GMT)
Footpad went off at 5-6 favourite.
It is Petit Mouchoir and Saint Calvados who have travelled out fastest though.
The favourite lurks five lengths back.

Footpad looked gorgeous on the way down to the start for me.

This should be really exciting, the accent is much more on jumping here.

Reporter Gina Harding:14:10 Saint Calvados (5-2)
Footpad has looked foot perfect over fences and will no doubt prove a formidable opponent. However with the rain arriving, and the talent shown by the improving Saint Calvados, it could be worth taking a chance on him landing a first Festival win for his trainer Harry Whittington at bigger odds.
Commentator John Hunt:17:30 Barney Dwan (8-1)
Barney Dwan has looked a class act from day one, is in excellent fettle judged by his Musselburgh win last month and can give local trainer Fergal O'Brien a memorable win.
Arkle Chase (14:10 GMT)
Saint Calvados has three wins from four hurdling outings in France and has looked good over heavy ground since coming under the guidance of trainer Harry Whittington.
He could be the biggest threat to a Willie Mullins-Ruby Walsh love-in.

Quality is the hallmark of the Arkle Chase (14:10) which sees the top novice chasers in a speed test over two miles.
Footpad is well fancied after taking the Irish version, when beating Petit Mouchoir. Look out for placed horses in the future – Sizing John was runner-up in 2016 before winning the Gold Cup last year.
Arkle Chase (14:10 GMT)
Next up is the Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.
A compact five-strong field, but is expected to come down to a three-way slug-out between Footpad, Saint Calvados and Petit Mouchoir.

Festival regular William Milford, here with his granddaughter Bethany, first attended the meeting before she was born.
"I first came here in 1982 and wanted to bring her along to enjoy the experience," said the 74-year-old from Maidstone in Kent.
Bethany, 23, said: "I like coming to the races, and winning. It's just amazing to be here for the first time."

Former Champion jockey John Francome has his say on the potential dilution of the festival if it becomes a five-day meeting: "They'll be having races for just grey horses the way we're going."

Supreme Novices' Hurdle (13:30 BST)
The Tom George-trained Summerville Boy wins the Supreme Novices' Hurdle to make it 1-0 to GB over Ireland after the first race.
Plenty more to run in that one...

"After a mistake like that at the second last, that was a remarkable victory for Summerville Boy and Noel Fehily.”
