Winning jockey Ryan Moore: "He is a really nice colt with a lovely attitude. His dam was very good and he won on his debut. He was very professional today. He has a very exciting pedigree.

On his Prince of Wales' Stakes shot: "Japan was won two Group Ones and won here last year. We will be ready."

That was a very patient ride from Ryan Moore, who bided his time beautifully while the manoeuvring going on in front got frantic.

The Queen was denied a winner in absentia with First Receiver overhauled with the post in sight.

But it was a landmark 60th victory at the meeting for Moore.

King Carney is making the running at the front of the pack with Mascat and Juan Elcano just in third.

First Receiver, sporting those distinctive purple and red royal colours, looks set to go off as favourite.

We are away with a nice clean break.

Juan Elcano was fifth in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month, mixing it with Kameko, Pinatubo and the rest. This lower-profile, longer-distance outing might see him move up into pole position.

Kenzai Warrior was involved in the same race at Newmarket, but was down in ninth, while Berlin Tango, under Oisin Murphy, and First Receiver, with Frankie Dettori on board, might also be in the final shake-down.
